Missed the latest Rayman Legends trailer? If so, you probably haven’t heard that the game will be released “exclusively on Wii U” in time for Christmas. With the console probably arriving in November, you won’t have to wait long to play Ubisoft’s next Rayman title.

Former Vigil staffer and Darksiders II developer Xander Davis was asked for his thoughts on Wii U in an interview with Not Enough Shaders.

Davis wasn’t actually involved with the port prior to his departure. However, he’s apparently heard from “people who have actually played a Wii U as recently as a month ago” that “the games pretty much suck and the tablet is pretty much a complete gimmick.” He also suggested that the console is “a $400 Xbox 360 seven years late.”

Below are Davis’ thoughts in full:

Expecting overseas Monster Hunter news at big venues like E3 and Gamescom may have been the right idea. Capcom’s Christian Svensson wrote on the company’s official forum today that fans are “assuming that when it comes, it’ll be at some event you can see coming from a mile away.”

There is news on the way, Svensson assured. He once again promised that we’ll “hear something before the end of the year.” It isn’t clear when exactly Capcom will have something to say, but fans will receive an update before the year is over.

Svensson told fans on Capcom-Unity:

“Going to jump in here really quickly… A few weeks ago, I told MH fans on this forum that you’d hear something before the end of the year. Nothing has changed on that front. You’re also assuming that when it comes, it’ll be at some event you can see coming from a mile away. That’s not necessarily a correct assumption. While I appreciate the passion, I can’t help you if every possible industry event leads to build up and crashes in anticipation. If we somehow get to Dec 31 and you do not have more visibility, then please be mad at me. Until then, I’d request the benefit of the doubt and your continued patience. Thanks for being such great fans.”
