What does Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto think about Sony’s PlayStation Vita? Miyamoto was asked for this thoughts about the system recently, but only offered a succinct comment.

Nonetheless, Miyamoto did praise the hardware behind the Vita. Although he called it “a very hi-spec machine”, he believes it could use more quality games.

In an interview with EDGE, Miyamoto told the magazine:

“It’s obviously a very hi-spec machine, and you can do lots of things with it. But I don’t really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product.”

Miyamoto later drew parallels to the launch of the 3DS, which lacked must-have software at launch:

“When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn’t have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn’t have Mario Kart 7, we didn’t have Kid Icarus: Uprising. We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren’t able to deliver them at that time.

“We were kind of hoping that people would, nevertheless, buy into the product, find 3DS hardware promising, but looking back we have to say we realise the key software was missing when we launched the hardware.”

More Rabbids action could be in our future. The Australian Clarification system has rated Rabbids Rumble, which could be a new game starring the odd creatures. Whatever the title turns out to be, some “very mild crude humour” will be included. It was given a “G” rating by the OFLC.

A number of Rabbids games have appeared on Nintendo platforms. The series has shown up on the Wii, DS, and 3DS. The latest entry was a Kinect exclusive called Rabbids: Alive & Kicking.

Ubisoft’s response to the rating was “no comment”, as expected.

THQ has confirmed that they won’t have a booth at this year’s E3.

However, the company will initiate a number of E3-related activities. THQ will show a variety of titles to the E3 judges, will have a press/business center at the expo for meetings, and will be involved with first-party activities.

THQ’s decision to not pursue a booth can be attributed to its poor financial state.

“We’re not producing a booth, but we will be participating in E3. We will be showing games to the E3 judges at their event coming up, and we’ll be hosting a press and business center at the show for meetings (as well as participating with first party activities).”

“When we needed to make the decision on the booth (many months ago) we were in a MUCH different place than today. But, we will be there to support our portfolio and the show itself.”

Nintendo reminds you that the Kid Icarus anime shorts are returning to Nintendo Video:

n-Space has been creating portable versions of the Call of Duty titles since 2007. Each spinoff was developed for the DS, including last year’s Modern Warfare 3: Defiance. Fans were hoping that the studio would be given an opportunity to make a new call of Duty for Nintendo’s latest handheld system, but it doesn’t look that’ll be happening – at least not this year.

One fan asked n-Space on Twitter if the studio is working on a portable version of Black Ops II. The company responded by saying that they “have no first person shooters in development at this time”. Maybe that’ll change next year?

Beamdog founder Trent Oster is surprised by the reaction to his comments regarding the company’s experience with Nintendo and the WiiWare service.

Oster noted how his beliefs are apparently widespread across the development community. Additionally, his initial message on Twitter wasn’t in-depth due to the site’s character limit. Even though “feedback has mostly been agreement and support about how Nintendo can improve”, Oster has received some backlash.

“I was surprised by the reaction to my comments. What I stated has been said a great deal within the industry, I guess I didn’t get the memo about not posting it publicly. Given the 140 character limit of Twitter and my cranky 3am mindset, my comment was also a pretty choppy sound bite. The feedback has mostly been agreement and support about how Nintendo can improve. But, I now have a few people who randomly appear on the various social networks and troll me.”

Nintendo has just sent out word about their E3 2012 presentation.

As was the case last year, the briefing will take place on Tuesday – the day of E3 – at the Nokia Theatre. It’s set for 9:00 AM PST / 12:00 PM EST.

The conference will wrap up by 10:00 AM PST, it seems.

Satoru Iwata has been lambasted as a result of Nintendo’s current financial state. The 3DS got off to a rough start last year and the company reported some disappointing results from its latest earnings report.

Even though an investor stood by Iwata during Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, the company’s president was more than accepting of the recent criticism. He’s currently “making efforts so that the situation can change as soon as possible.”

Iwata said:

“First of all, thank you for your encouragement. However, with the financial results that we have announced, it is natural that I am being criticized. I do not feel that I have been experiencing something unreasonable. I am making efforts so that the situation can change as soon as possible.”

Spanish video game site Blogocio was recently given an opportunity to speak with Jose M. Iñiguez, Akaoni Studio’s director. The company is currently working on Zombie Panic in Wonderland for the 3DS eShop and have started a new project.

The folks over at Blogocio provided Nintendo Everything with a short summary of their interview. Iñiguez discussed Zombie Panic in Wonderland 3DS, their new project, and Wii U.

The translation is slightly wonky, but it makes sense… for the most part!

Zombie Panic in Wonderland 3DS
– The port of Zombie Panic in Wonderland is going well.
– Nintendo Europe has been encouraging.
– They are very excited.
– Focusing on the project 100% now.
– Possibly arriving at Christmas.

New Project
– Now beginning a new project.
– They want it to be very striking visually.
– Platform not yet announced.
– It’s for PC at the conceptual level, but the developer is interested in the 3DS as a possible platform.

Wii U
– Don’t have a development kit.
– All Japanese developers who have spoken with them say it is full of surprises that will surprise people much more than what at first seems.
