Nintendo of Europe today announced that David Yarnton will be leaving the company.
While that name may not ring a bell for everyone, Yarnton has been working with Nintendo for nearly twenty years. He’s held positions at the UK and Australian offices.
Yarton most recently held the General Manager of Nintendo UK position.
Nintendo of Europe’s president, Satoru Shibata, and the UK senior management team “will be actively involved in the running of the UK office until a replacement is announced”.
The company prepared the following statement concerning Yarton’s departure:
“Nintendo of Europe announces with regret that David Yarnton has decided to pursue opportunities for a change of career outside Nintendo and therefore will shortly be leaving the company. David has had a distinguished career of almost 20 years at Nintendo, first as Sales Director of Nintendo Australia and then, since 2003, as General Manager of Nintendo UK. Nintendo wishes him every success in his choice of new career. Mr Shibata, European President of Nintendo, will be working alongside the UK’s senior management team and will be actively involved in the running of the UK office until a replacement is announced.”

Seth Killian has become one of Capcom’s most-recognizable employees at the company’s US branch over the past few years due to his involvement with the community. He’s answered lots of questions on the official forums, participated in fan events, and more.
Today is both a happy and sad day for Killian. He announced that he’ll be leaving Capcom this Friday, but will move on to “a new path which will let me embrace a new dream”.
Killian delivered a final, lengthy goodbye to those who have been a part of his career at Capcom. It’s posted below.
Sakurai on Kid Icarus controls, cut content, resurrecting old characters in Smash Bros., more

Even though it was released three months ago, we’re still thinking about Kid Icarus: Uprising. There’s still a lot to discuss. Some players still stand by their opinion that the controls weren’t easy to manage, while others are pleased with the title overall and would like to see a sequel.
Director Masahiro Sakurai has previously said that he has no interest in making a followup to Uprising and this is something that he echoed in a new interview. Sakurai also touched on those aforementioned controls once more, content that was left on the cutting room floor, and how he looks to revive old Nintendo characters through Smash Bros.
We’ve compiled the full commentary from Sakurai below.

Nothing too exciting here… Reggie was only about to answer two fan questions from Twitter. It was amusing seeing him nearly butcher Xenoblade Chronicle’s name, though! Don’t worry, Reggie – you still rock.
Blizzard on chances of StarCraft Wii U, console possibilities
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Starcraft 64 was the last time Blizzard Entertainment assisted in development of a Nintendo console game. There was StarCraft: Ghost, too, but that’s practically vaporware at this point.
So yes, it’s been quite some time since Blizzard was actively involved with a Nintendo system. But could the studio work on the Wii U in the future?
When StarCraft II lead designer Dustin Browder was asked this question, he admitted that he wasn’t familiar with the console. After receiving an explanation of the GamePad, Browder said:
3DS Game Card Case may not return to Club Nintendo
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
If you’ve been interested in the Club Nintendo 3DS Game Card Case, hopefully you picked one up before it went out of stock.
Why would I say something like that? Well, a Nintendo of America customer service representative recently hinted that the reward may not return.
The person said:
“Thanks for contacting us about the Nintendo DS/3DS 18 Game Card Case. Please note that this reward was produced in limited quantities, so it is unlikely that we’ll be getting more in stock. I will, however, document your interest in this particular reward on the record of feedback for this item. If additional supplies become available again in the future, we’ll be sure to update the Rewards section of Club Nintendo (https://club.nintendo.com/rewards.do). Since we’ll be unable to alert you if this happens, we ask that you check back periodically.”
The 3DS Game Card Case has been one of the site’s most popular rewards, so hopefully Nintendo will think about replenishing stock in the future.
Miyamoto on competition, worried about continued reliance on games with guns, more

Just when we thought that all of the E3 2012 interviews with Shigeru Miyamoto had wrapped up, another one came into view!
While the comments below touch on the competition once again and how companies are using some similar ideas as Nintendo, Miyamoto’s remark on the high quantity of titles focusing on guns these days was most interesting point to me, personally.
Basically, Miyamoto said that he is sometimes concerned with “the continued reliance on making games that are so centered around guns, and that there are so many of these games.”
That’s a small teaser for you folks. All of Miyamoto’s comments can be read below.
Tezuka on New Super Mario Bros. similarities, Donkey Kong impact, touch-only Mario
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, DS, General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Takashi Tezuka has been offering some valuable insightful into the Mario series through numerous interviews. He’s probably the best man to talk about the franchise (aside from Miyamoto!) since he’s been working on it since the first Super Mario Bros.
Tekuza’s latest remarks include the reasoning behind the similarities between all of the New Super Mario Bros. games, how Donkey Kong Country Returns’ visuals motivated the NSMB Wii team, the possibility of a touch screen only Mario, and more.
For Tezuka’s exact quotes, head past the break.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 mod looks to add split-screen co-op
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Videos, Wii | 0 comments
We’ve seen the Nintendo community accomplish amazing things with the Wii hardware and some of its games. The latest fan effort focuses on Super Mario Galaxy 2, which has been a given Mario and Luigi split-screen co-op mod through game patcher Riivolution.
The video above emphasizes that the project is still very much a work in progress. Even with the kinks, though, this is pretty impressive.
While the mod isn’t available to the public yet, it should be up for download sometime in the future.
