Now this is the type of video content I’d like to see more often on Nintendo Video! You can watch it right now on the service, in 3D.

Montréal, Canada – November 02, 2011 – Today, Ubisoft announced that it has acquired RedLynx, the Finland-based creator of the renowned digital brand “Trials”.

Founded in 2000, RedLynx is a pioneer in digital games, developing more than 100 high-quality titles for a wide range of digital distribution channels, including PC, consoles, mobile phones, tablets and interactive TV. After initial success on PC and wide acclaim for its highly realistic, physics-based game mechanics, Trials, RedLynx’s flagship brand, has now become one of the best-selling games ever on Xbox™ LIVE Arcade, with over two million paid downloads across the main game and both DLCs. Trials Evolution, the next title in the franchise, will be released in the coming months. The recent DrawRace 2 for the iPhone and iPad was lauded by both press and gamers for its innovative physics-based touch-controls and asynchronous multiplayer gameplay. Upon its release, DrawRace2 became the best-selling racing game in both Europe and the United States.

Commenting on the acquisition, Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft, stated: “The team at RedLynx has developed exceptionally strong digital brands that stand out for their high replay value, their long tail sales and their multiplatform positioning. We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms.”

Princess Peach will send you letters as you progress in Super Mario 3D Land. This is something that was briefly mentioned during the Super Mario 3D Land Iwata Asks discussion. The letters contain illustrations updating you about the status of the princess, with a hint of nostalgia.

If you’d like to see the set of illustration/letter screenshots, head past the break.

Bionic Games, the developer behind Capcom’s Spyborgs, has shut down. Co-founder Mike Stout was actually involved with Activision’s Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, so I guess that’s a pretty good confirmation that the studio is gone. Their website has disappeared, too.

Nintendo has published a translated version of the company’s financial results briefing Q&A session from Friday. We covered a great deal of the information in numerous posts over the weekend.

Other than what we previously shared, there was nothing from the full transcript that truly jumped out at me. So rather than filling the homepage with walls of text, I’ll let you guys read up on the translated (here) if you’re interested.

Oh man, it was quite a long road to get this totally edited and done, but it’s completed and uploaded and everything is good. Woofta.

Still a lot of technical things to be worked out with using all of the crazy new nonsense, but I’d say we did okay for a first episode!

On this week’s episode: Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, Pokemon Rumble Blast, James Noir’s Hollywood Crimes and Pokemon Rumble Blast at NYCC.

Next year, Mega Man and Street Fighter turn 25. Fans of these franchises will be pleased to hear that Capcom has anniversary plans for both IPs.

Capcom’s Christian Svensson provided the following information on the Capcom-Unity boards…

“25th for MM and 25th for Street Fighter next year. Both will have ‘things’ to commemorate the occasion. Exactly what is in planning stages but the are solid ideas already being batted around I hope you guys will like. …But please bear in mind, they won’t happen until some time in our next fiscal year begins mostly (so still a good ways away).”

Hmmm… I wonder what Capcom has in store. Something tells me that there plans don’t involve Mega Man Legends-related, though…

Missed GTTV’s Nintendo episode last night? If so, you can watch the whole show online. I don’t believe embed code is available, so you’ll have to head on over to GameTrailers to view it.

The first couple of Zelda Symphony concerts kicked off very recently, will a full tour set to take place in 2012. This is just one of the ways Nintendo is celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary.

Unfortunately, Mario never received the same treatment for his birthday last year. That doesn’t mean, however, that Mario concerts are out of the question. Koji Kondo responded excitedly when asked about the possibility of Mario concerts in an interview with GameTrailers TV, and expressed great interest in making that happen sometime in the future.

Get to it, Nintendo!
