Wii U often sees comparisons to a number of technologies. For instance, following E3, people were quick to bring up the similarities between the console and Microsoft’s SmartGlass.

The PlayStation 3 and Vita have also been compared to the Wii U. That’s because you could essentially have one experience going on the television while the Vita provides a secondary experience through cross-play/cross-control.

Sony’s John Koller has no issues with the comparisons, and believes that the company’s console/handheld can “easily” match what Wii U brings to the table.

“We tell our PlayStation fans all the time that what the Wii U is offering is something that Vita and PS3 can do quite easily.”

GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW

The popular fantasy action franchise Monster Hunter™ returns to Europe and North America with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate launching on Nintendo Wii U™ and Nintendo 3DS™.

Players take on the role of a hunter and are sent to explore a settlement within the Monster Hunter™ universe, completing quests on their journey to seek and slay monsters while improving their skills and earning equipment upgrades. With many challenging monsters and over 200 quests the latest edition to the series is set to be the most expansive offering to date.

Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate utilizes the functionalities of the Wii U console and Nintendo 3DS system to provide players with a truly intuitive hunting experience. The touch screen feature of both platforms allows players to quickly access in-game books, weapons, field maps and mini games while the high quality graphics of Wii U and 3D visuals of Nintendo 3DS powered by the latest iteration of Capcom’s MT Framework deliver a unique and stunning world for players to explore. Taking advantage of the portability of Nintendo 3DS, players can exchange their guild card that contains all their hunter’s information with other players via StreetPass™.

Well, Nintendo’s first test of DLC seems to have been a success! Here’s the rundown:

– 75% of 3DS systems are connected to the internet
– Roughly 1.2 million downloads of DLC
– Roughly ¥380 million in sales.
– Converts to about $4.8 million

Hopefully they don’t start milking the concept, and instead stick with offering full and complete games regardless of what DLC will be offered.

– Three kinds of mushrooms: Red, Purple, Yellow
– Red mushrooms make you grow one size larger
– Purple mushrooms shrink you down
– Yellow mushrooms make you grow to “mega size”
– The mode is balanced equally when compared to other modes if mushrooms are not used
– Bigger is not necessarily better, as certain moves won’t be able to reach smaller players
– Came about when the developers played around with a size slider for fun
– When the Wii U development started, someone thought it would be cool to combine that with Mushrooms
– No word on whether Mushroom Battle will have an online mode
