Annoying site bug

Posted on 12 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in Site updates | 0 comments

You may have noticed that Nintendo Everything and Gaming Everything were down for a couple of hours. We encountered a very, very annoying bug. I believe we’ve tracked that down once and for all, but that obviously doesn’t help us out today.

I’ll be posting a few updates on both sites now. Austin will be taking over in a bit. This obviously messes things up for the day, but at least we shouldn’t encounter any more issues of this kind going forward.

Update: Official PR is posted below.

Nintendo UK posted a message on its Twitter account moments ago confirming a Wii U Nintendo Direct for Europe this Thursday. The news was shared by Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata.

According to the tweet, the presentation will be shown at 4 PM CEST.

The message states:

“Hi everyone! I’d like to invite you to watch the Nintendo Direct Wii U Preview, Thu 13th Sep at 4pm CEST at http://t.co/EUbUkLDg”

Newly announced Nintendo Direct takes a closer look at upcoming Wii U console

Nintendo of America will be holding a press conference in New York City this Thursday to reveal various Wii U launch details. It doesn’t sound like a media event is planned for Europe, but there could be a Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo’s Spanish division has supposedly confirmed that the broadcast will be streamed at 4 PM. NOE president Satoru Shibata may be hosting the presentation.

Gamereactor has strangely pulled its original article confirming the news. I’m not sure if that means some information slipped out a bit early, or if the entire story is fake. We’ll try to find out.

We’ve been waiting a long time for the eShop version of NightSky. The same applies to Cave Story.

Fortunately, Nicalis will soon confirm release dates for both eShop games. The company wrote on Twitter today that the news will be shared in a few days.

“We’re just a few days from confirming a release date for Cave Story on eShop. And NightSky, too!”

Let’s hope those two titles will hit the eShop soon. We’ve been waiting long enough!

Update: Austin posted a few more New Super Mario Bros. U details earlier today, but we’re bumping this post to the front page with even more information.

– Three Yoshi variations
– Pink Yoshi: inflated with a GamePad/Wiimote shake
– This can take Mario even higher than the flying suit can
– Pink Yoshis don’t help in horizontal movement
– Large surface area useful for collecting a bunch of airborne coins
– Gold Yoshi: shake the controller to light up the immediate area
– Also stuns nearby enemies
– Gold Yoshis show up in the Fire Snake Caverns
– Blue Yoshi: can shoot bubbles
– Can ride the adult version of Yoshi in numerous levels
– Yoshi can still eat fruit
– Collect five to fill a meter
– This rewards Yoshi’s rider with a power-up
– Camera pans out a bit in co-op
– This helps you see hidden star coins and pipes that you normally wouldn’t come across in single-player
– Boost Mode: Place up to four floating platforms at a time
– Use the GamePad touch screen in Boost Mode to pop friends out of bubbles, stun enemies, make it easier to reach the flagpole, manipulate environmental objects, swat Paratroopas
– Turn on Boost Mode by powering up the GamePad – that’s it
– Players will go through pre-selected packs of levels in Boost Rush Mode
– Collecting coins makes the auto-scroll faster
– Limited amount of lives given at the start of each pack
– Dying doesn’t reset the clock

Original details from earlier today

– Does not break from the large map to zoom in on areas like Cookie Dome/Forest of Illusion; that was a reference to a Super Mario World feature
– Cookie Dome and Forest of Illusion do not appear to be worlds in NSMBU
– Confirmed areas: Acorn Plains, Sparkling Waters, Frosted Glacier, Layer Cake Desert (with melting desserts all around!), an area similar to Forest of Illusion, an area similar to SMB3’s Sky World, an area surrounded by a giant tornado, Fire Snake Caverns (unsure if this is a level name or a world name)
– Confirmed powerups: Super Mushroom, Starman, Fire Flower, Ice Flower, Mini Mushroom, Super Acorn
– Running up walls a la Super Mario World is back- but only if you’re mini Mario

Capcom may be turning its Monster Hunter franchise into a full-fledged film.

Speaking with Cinema Today, Resident Evil Retribution producer Paul W.S. Anderson revealed that a movie conversion is in the works. The news came about when Anderson was asked about another game that he’d like to transform into a movie.

Anderson stated:

“Recently, I’ve been loving Monster Hunter! A film conversion is currently in planning.”

Capcom hasn’t officially announced a Monster Hunter movie at this time. It’s also unknown if Anderson would be directly involved with the film.
