Nintendo: Wii U takes social gaming further than Wii

Nintendo believes the Wii got the ball rolling in a big way when it comes to social gaming. With Wii U, however, the company wants to take this a step further.
Before leaving Nintendo UK, David Yarton spoke about Wii U’s social aspects, noting how “the extra screen can bring someone in, and get them involved, but give them either a very different or subtly different experience.”
Yarton explained:
“Nintendo is always looking at how it can make the game experience much better for people. With Wii U we are still looking at the social aspect of gaming. Wii games got the family playing, and got people that didn’t usually play up and having a go. Wii U takes that further. The extra screen can bring someone in, and get them involved, but give them either a very different or subtly different experience. It changes how, in a multiplayer scenario, they interact. You can see it when people play. That’s the real pleasure of it.”
Nintendo admits it hasn’t done so well at expressing 3DS features, Pushmo a big success

Nintendo has said that it could do a little better at informing the public about the 3DS features.
Nintendo UK’s now ex-general manager David Yarnton told MCV that it has been promoting the system’s online efforts – the eShop in particular – but the company must be persistent in educating others about the 3DS’ functionality
Yarnton stated:
“One of the things we perhaps haven’t been so good at is telling you about the features we have. For example the downloadable games and other DLC – but we have been promoting it.”
Yarnton was able to confirm that Pushmo (known as Pullbox in Europe), has been one of the eShop’s “big successes”. Specific sales figures weren’t revealed, but it’s “done incredibly well”.
“One of our big successes has been Pullbox. It has done incredibly well, and is such good value, and is so much fun – but not enough people know about it. It’s not there on the shopfloor. But it is there, and we have a lot of games like that. We need to do more about educating people about that.”
Atlus makes Etrian Odyssey IV more accessible to casual players

In Etrian Odyssey IV, players will be granted access to the Ariadne’s Thread item. It can be used to warp back to town while exploring a dungeon at almost any time.
Ariadne’s Thread may help you avoid death in some instances. If you do perish, however, you’ll be transported back to town. I suppose that’s better than having to go through the load game screen again.

EnjoyUp could be publishing La-Mulana WiiWare in Europe

Even though Nicalis cancelled its publishing arrangements for the WiiWare version of La-Mulana, the game could still be heading to Europe.
An updated entry was discovered on the European ratings board PEGI, though it has since been removed. Prior to its removal, EnjoyUp was listed as the new publisher for La-Mulana WiiWare.
EnjoyUp responded with a standard “no comment” statement when asked about the situation. Sounds like something could be brewing here…
