Rev those engines for the chance to win great prizes in Mario Kart 7 tournaments countrywide

Mario fans are in for a treat as Mario Kart 7, the latest instalment in the Mario Kart franchise, comes to the palm of your hand in 3D action on 2nd December. To celebrate the launch, GAME will be inviting customers to play the brand new game in stores across the country* from December 2nd – 4th.

To add to the fun, on Saturday 2nd December Mario fans at every participating store will be invited to time trial on an exciting, all-new course from Mario Kart 7. At the end of the day the winner of the fastest lap time from each store, will win a £25 GAME voucher. The lucky gamer who wins with the fastest lap time will win a grand star prize of a family trip to Italy.


Just as expected, the upcoming 3DS update will hit Europe by December 8. The new firmware will likely go live worldwide at the same time.

Nintendo of Europe sent out the following message:

There’s a system update coming soon for the Nintendo 3DS system which will enable all kinds of great functionality – and we can now reveal that it will be available in Europe by December 8th 2011.

Here’s the lowdown on some of the additions to be enabled by this upcoming system update:

  • Record video in 3D – capture up to 10 minutes of 3D video, or even make your own stop-motion animations
  • New ways to play using StreetPass Mii Plaza – with new puzzles for Puzzle Swap and new areas in StreetPass Quest!
  • The ability to perform a complete system transfer, including downloaded software, between two Nintendo 3DS systems

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming 3DS update will go live in North America by December 8. That’s the same time frame provided by the company’s Japanese division.
