Update: North American date is May 20.

Nintendo revealed the European release date for Mario Open Tennis during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. It’s due out on May 25. Japan gets the game on May 24, one day earlier. We should be getting North American release date news later today.

22 February 2012 – Whether you own a Nintendo 3DS™, Nintendo DS™ or Wii™, the recent Nintendo Direct features something for everybody. If you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet then head over to www.nintendo.co.uk/nintendodirect to see Mr Iwata discuss some of the upcoming launches and content that is coming soon from Nintendo. Fans can also keep up to date with exclusive new game information and official Nintendo announcements by following the newly launched official Nintendo of Europe Twitter feed @NintendoEurope

In this latest Nintendo Direct, Mr Sakurai, the creative force behind the world famous Super Smash Brothers™ and Kirby™ series made an appearance to talk about his latest game Kid Icarus™: Uprising. He comments on one of the forthcoming 3 on 3 multiplayer battles, while using the unique difficulty system – the Fiend’s Cauldron – which rewards the gamers with stronger weapons, as well as on the innovative AR Card feature within the game. He will also introduce the StreetPass™ functionality of Kid Icarus: Uprising, where players will have the ability to share one of their weapons with other Kid Icarus: Uprising owners. The selected weapon is turned into a Weapon Gem. Shared Weapon Gems can be converted into real weapons by paying Hearts. Players can also fuse Weapon Gems together by paying Hearts to create a more powerful Weapon.

22nd February 2012 – Polish your sleuthing skills and dust off your dancing shoes because Nintendo and SEGA have today confirmed that they have entered into a new distribution agreement for the forthcoming game Rhythm Thief™ & the Emperor’s Treasure, scheduled for release exclusively on Nintendo 3DS™ across Europe on 5th April 2012. Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout European territories, with SEGA remaining as publisher.

Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure combines a thrilling twist-filled adventure, with rhythm-based challenges utilising the unique functions of the Nintendo 3DS to the fullest. The action takes place in a beautifully rendered anime-styled Paris, where you play the sharp-suited Raphael, whose alter ego is Phantom R, an honourable thief who always returns his loot a few days after stealing it. Together with your canine companion Fondue, you aim to solve the mystery of your father’s disappearance once and for all, by embarking on your most daring robbery yet while staying one step ahead of the Parisian police!

The Last Story is coming to North America after all.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime announced during the latest Nintendo Direct that the game will be brought stateside.

Here’s the catch: Nintendo won’t be publishing title. Localization duties will be regulated to, believe it or not, XSEED.

The Last Story is due out in North America this year.

A new take on the Wild West in Dillon’s Rolling Western for Nintendo 3DS available exclusively via the Nintendo eShop

22nd February 2012 – Join Dillon, the ranger armadillo, on his colourful 3D quest across the Wild West to save villages and their livestock, the cute scrogs, from invading rock monsters named grock. Dillon’s Rolling Western™ will not only test your quick thinking and skill in the heat of battle, but also your preparation and planning abilities as you aim to stay one step ahead of the invading grock. This unique action tower defence Nintendo 3DS game will be available to download via the Nintendo eShop today.

Dillon’s adventure takes place during the day, dusk and night, with different challenges and tasks to complete. During the daytime while there are no grock around, build static defences around each village including watch towers and gun towers, and collect as many scruffles, a turnip-like vegetable, in order to increase the number of scrogs in the village. Make the most of the daytime by installing weapons in the gun towers and fortifying the village gates as you install the last line of defence before dusk.
