Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 is a no-go on WiiWare

If you want to play the second installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 series, you’ll have to download it on a platform other than Wii. SEGA has confirmed that Episode 2 will not be released for WiiWare.
Brand Manager Ken Balough wrote on the company’s official forums:
“…Episode II unfortunately will not be coming to the Wii – for reasons most people have probably guessed, but that doesn’t mean the SEGA isn’t supporting Nintendo platforms, we have a very strong partnership and will continue to do so.”
The situation is most likely related to WiiWare’s file size limitation. The developers are using a new graphics engine (and a new physics engine), which may make it difficult to cram the game into 40 MB.

Disney newsletter points to Epic Mickey 2 announcement
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
A newsletter circulated by Disney indicates that Epic Mickey 2 will be announced in the future. While the newsletter has since been edited, it originally stated that the game would be hitting Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in Fall 2012. Interestingly, the notice contained the same exact blurb found in a survey posted back in August.
The following was found inside the newsletter before it was edited:
“Disney Epic Mickey 2 is the latest game in the critically acclaimed Disney Epic Mickey videogame series. In this all-new action-platforming game available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, Mickey embarks on an epic journey and is pulled back into a world filled with Disney’s forgotten characters. Players can choose to play single-player as Mickey or for the first time players can also choose 2-player split screen mode. In the 2 player mode one person can play as Mickey wielding magic paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world and the second player can play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – Walt Disney’s first cartoon star – with the power to fly like a helicopter and use electricity to fight or friend enemies and solve challenges. Team-up and choose your path to save this forgotten world because the choices you make will alter the story and change the end of the game!”
At this point, Epic Mickey 2 seems like a foregone conclusion. The first title sold very well and bringing the franchise to other platforms wouldn’t be the least bit surprising.
Binding of Isaac could hit the 3DS
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
Binding of Isaac has a strong chance of landing on the 3DS. Team Meat is very open to the idea, and it sounds like it could happen as long as Nintendo is okay with it.
If Nintendo approves, Edmund McMillen will allow a publisher who is currently pitching the idea to port the game to the 3DS.
McMillen said:
“A publisher i know is currently asking nintendo if they woudl be ok with isaac on the 3ds, if they say yes then ill had the game off to them and let them port it.”
Thanks to Jake for the tip!

A child’s 3DS Christmas surprise

Hey, it’s like the Nintendo 64 kid all over again. This child was expecting to receive a puzzle, but his parents completely surprised him by getting him a 3DS instead. I’m sure we’ll see something like this when the Wii U launches next year!
