Dragon Quest X has now been 100% confirmed for Wii. We also just discovered that Square Enix will bring the game to Wii U as well.

Although it won’t be made for the 3DS, it sounds like the developers are considering some connectivity with the handheld. During the Dragon Quest conference, Yuji Horii mentioned that the team may implement a transfer system to move characters for SpotPass data exchanges.

Surprise! Dragon Quest X isn’t a Wii-exclusive. Square Enix has just announced that the title will be brought to Nintendo’s newest console as well. The Wii U version will be “powered-up” and will feature enhanced graphics.

Here’s one piece of interesting information: if you purchase the game on Wii, you’ll be able to resume your progress on Wii U. No further information was shared, though.

Despite being announced almost three years ago, we haven’t heard or seen anything related to Dragon Quest X. Not a single screenshot has been published, nor has a second of footage been released. That’s all changed today thanks to Square Enix’s “Dragon Quest conference” that is currently underway in Japan.

A trailer was just shown and details are expected soon. We’ll have the video for you shortly.

Sankei Biz’s schedule lists Square Enix’s impending press conference as “Square Enix Holdings Announces Dragon Quest X.” Perhaps they have some inside information… or perhaps they’re just making an educated guess!

In any case, we’ll know for sure in about 15 minutes…

30 minutes remain!

Here’s hoping I’m not posting about this for nothing! Could you imagine if this turned out to be non-Nintendo-related?

The Dragon Quest conference will be starting in about an hour. That means…

1 AM EDT time
10 PM PDT time
2 PM JST time (Japan)

You’ll be able to watch a live stream of the event here. And, of course, I’ll be here to cover the event with any appropriate news and media.

Let’s hope we finally get some Dragon Quest X news and a trailer!
