EA cancels Gardens

Here’s a bit of surprising news. EA has cancelled Gardens, a 3DS game set to be released around the launch of the handheld. Development on the project seemed mostly complete – in fact, the title was rated by the ESRB back in December. EA did not provide a reason for Garden’s mysterious cancellation, though perhaps it’s related to some heavily negative previews the game received.

A few weeks back we heard a tale of Super Street Fighter IV 3D producer Yoshinori Ono being unable to secure a 3DS directly from Nintendo before its launch date this March 27th, despite being a very well respected member of the development community.

Now, CEO of Imageepooch Ryoei Mikage is having the same problem. He apparently has had to pre-order the system, which makes it the first pre-order of a gaming device in his life, despite being a confirmed high-profile developer on the system.

Well… at least fair is fair?
