Treasure working on a “3D action shooter”
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 3 Comments
Even though Sin and Punishment: Star Success was released in North America just a few weeks ago, the game actually launched in Japan late last year. So it’s about time that Treasure starts working on something new, right? Well, a job listing on the company’s website provides a bit of insight into the company’s next project. Treasure is currently looking for a number of programmers for a “3D action shooter.” It seems very likely that development of the title is in its early stages, so it’ll probably be awhile before we hear anything official about the game.
Monster Hunter Tri looking to be the most avidly played Wii game of all time… easily
Posted on 14 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in News, Wii | 3 Comments
For those of you that own Monster Hunter Tri, you know how addictive it can be. It’s a tought thing to explain, so rather than explaining it myself, I shall fall back on this quite from Capcom’s Official Blog:
“Not long after, you realize it’s 4am, you haven’t eaten, and you’re still not ready to turn it off. It’s more than a fun and addicting game, it’s rewarding and satisfying throughout your time in the game.” – Capcom’s Blog
I cannot tell you how many times this exact thing has happened to me, which is proof enough as to how addicting it really is. Now, since it is so fun, it makes sense that a lot of people would be playing it, right? According to this chart, it’s easily the fastest played and most avidly played Wii game of all time, and it’s looking to take down Brawl in no time at all. That’s pretty darn good news for Capcom, if I do say so myself!

These screenshots are from the PS3 version, but they should give you a pretty good idea of how the Wii title will end up.
Sakurai trying to prevent eye strain in Kid Icarus, sees 3D Wii as a possibility
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, DS, News, Wii | 0 comments
Sakurai on his involvement with the 3DS…
“The first discussions were with Mr Iwata (the head of Nintendo) in July 2008. And I was asked to create a game specifically for the platform. But at the time I didn’t have any staff so started hiring and created Project Sora and was able to start development in May 2009.”
Sakurai on whether he influenced the development of the 3DS…
“I made a lot of suggestions from very early stages on until now. Early on, Nintendo were soliciting lots of feedback from within the company and from me. And I had very specific requests from Mr Iwata in regard to what my ideal picture of the device was, etc.”
Capcom explains why Okamiden is DS-only
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 3 Comments
“The distinctive feature of the Celestial Brush is just screaming out to be realised on the DS touch screen. I think it’s only natural that Okamiden was designed for DS. …Showing such diverse, sensitive colours that were seen in the original Okami was one tough task indeed. However, it was rather fortuitous for Capcom to have plenty of talented programmers and graphic designers that they have put everything into this title and recreated that very experience on the DS.” – Motohide Eshiro, the producer of Okamiden
Even though Okamiden takes place a few months after the original, Eshiro has said that this game is more of a sidestory than it is a true sequel. So I wonder if it would be possible to continue the “Okamiden series” on handhelds (3DS, anyone?) while Okami continues on consoles. I have to admit – As cute as Chibiterasu is, I will miss Ammy quite a bit!

Sonic Team says their fans are “near-impossible” to please
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 6 Comments
“There are so many fans, each with their own unique first experience of the Sonic franchise, so I do understand that there are different Sonic fans in the world. It’s very hard – near-impossible, actually – to please everybody, but I believe that there are some constants in the franchise that we should always try to maintain. As long as these things are maintained, and that focus is still there, the team can think of ways to evolve Sonic, while keeping the fundamentals of attitude and speed. That’s one way I believe we can go some way to pleasing as many Sonic fans as possible.” – Sonic Team boss
I wouldn’t say that it’s too difficult to please Sonic fans. The thing about Sonic is that, in recent years, a lot of titles in the series have been mediocre. The franchise needs to get back on track with higher-quality releases while incorporating some of the elements that the fans enjoy.
