Press release:

GC 2008 – SEGA confirms games line-up

LONDON & MUNICH (August 14, 2008) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® Germany GmbH today announced the titles which will be presented to the public and industry professionals at Games Convention 2008. Two SEGA heroes will dominate events in the consumer area (Hall 5, Booth F02), which will strongly and positively stand out from the usual trade fair booths thanks to its special design. Amigo, the clever monkey from the Samba De Amigo game series celebrates his comeback exclusively on the Wii, and at the same time, his public premiere. For the first time customers will be able to shake their Wii remotes to the beat, next to, and on the stage – 40 well-known songs and new game modes provide long-lasting enthusiasm. Samba De Amigo will also be the primary element of our professionally moderated stage show – with full audience participation.

The newly announced Wii MotionPlus will be yet another peripheral Wii owners will be sucked into purchasing, but no one can argue that it will make some games more interactive. LucasArts, however, doesn’t seem to be too thrilled with Nintendo’s move. When Nintendo has a secret, they guard it well – which even applies to third parties. For LucasArts, this means that they are suffering from a missed opportunity with their latest game, Star Wars: The Clone Wars for Wii. The company seems to be unhappy that they were not informed about Wii MotionPlus earlier, especially considering their game was featured in Nintendo’s press conference. Sadly, this also means that we won’t see many third-party Wii MotionPlus games for quite awhile.

So, you think you’re nuts over Zelda? Check out the product description for the latest Zelda book:

With both young and adult gamers as loyal fans, The Legend of Zelda is one of the most beloved video game series ever created. The contributors to this volume consider the following questions and more: What is the nature of the gamer’s connection to Link? Does Link have a will, or do gamers project their wills onto him? How does the gamer experience the game? Do the rules of logic apply in the game world? How is space created and distributed in Hyrule (the fictional land in which the game takes place)? How does time function? Is Zelda art? Can Hyrule be seen as an ideal society? Can the game be enjoyable without winning? The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy not only appeals to Zelda fans and philosophers but also puts video games on the philosophical map as a serious area of study.”

The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy is scheduled for a November 28th release. Generally speaking, I conserve my video game money to buy…video games, rather than merchandise. However, I don’t think I can pass on this book, mainly because I’m a huge Zelda fan.

This comes from the Capcom-Unity forums per usual..

“Capcom, I’m really pissed right now. I want to play these games, but you give us Wii owners the shaft. No RE5 Wii, possibly no Dead Rising 2, no Lost Planet, no Flock, no Age of Booty, No Street Fighter 4, no Devil May Cry, no Dark Void.”

Which prompted this response…

“We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you’ve mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we’d like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs” – Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom

Obviously, I can’t speak for Capcom, but I would guess that the one or two titles they’re considering could be Street Fighter IV or Resident Evil 5. I just don’t see how Capcom could neglect the Wii audience with Resident Evil 5 after Resident Evil 4 sold well on the GameCube and Wii.

“We are fans of the Wii Zapper. Our ‘Ghost Squad’ game keeps selling. We have more Zapper games going. The same for the Wii Balance Board, although we have nothing announced yet.” – Simon Jeffery, SEGA of America

This might be crazy (well, I have to admit that this is a ridiculous idea), but how about a Sonic game that uses the Wii balance board. It’d be pretty hilarious to watch someone running to emulate Sonic’s insane speed. Or, how about some monkey ball action?

Back in action

Posted on 15 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in Site updates | 0 comments

It feels verrrrrrry nice to be home right now. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy my vacation, but it’s good to go back to what you’re used to. I have to admit, I missed updating the website. Unfortunately, I noticed that there was only one update from Jackson while I was away…And that was it. I openly apologize for that, since I thought Jackson would be able to do at least a few dozen news posts for sure.

Anyway, like I said, I am back and it’s good to be back. I’ll start posting casually for now but will start posting seriously in the next hour or so. Don’t forget, the NPD numbers are today!
