Forests, Fields and Fortresses

Ratalaika Games tends to publish at least one game on Switch per week, and this time around it’s Forests, Fields and Fortresses. You’ll be able to grab it starting August 30, 2024.

Forests, Fields and Fortresses, made by 9 Eyes Game Studio, is a mashup of puzzle and board game. The game involves players building their own kingdom.

Tales of Kenzera ZAU 1.3 update difficulty levels

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU will soon be going live with a new version 1.3 update on Switch, which is highlighted by new difficulty levels.

“Story” will be the new easiest option in the game. But on the other end of the spectrum, “Brutal” will pose a huge challenge. Note that in addition to these new difficulty levels, the game is getting other additions, improvements, and fixes such as the option to skip chase sequences after a designated number of attempts.

Indie World Showcase Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase

Nintendo will host not one, but two new presentations tomorrow with an Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. The fun begins at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe.

The Indie World Showcase will go live first. Right after that event, the Nintendo Direct: Partners Showcase will begin. Between the two, everything will take place across 40 minutes (give or take).

Both events will cover upcoming games for Switch. Unsurprisingly, Nintendo will not be talking about the system’s successor here.

Here’s where you can watch tomorrow’s proceedings:

July 19: The Grand Fesival in Splatoon 3 is set to start on September 13, Nintendo have announced. The event will last for 72 hours, and will mark the two-year anniversary of the game.

The official announcement video, which you can view below, gives us a preview of what is to come. It also details the Splatfest that will happen during the event, which will give players a choice between Past, Present, and Future.

Fatal Run 2089

Atari, in partnership with MNSTR Studio, just revealed Fatal Run 2089. The game heads to Switch in 2025.

Fatal Run 2089 is a vehicular combat game based on the 1990s classic. The new Unreal Engine 5-developed title features arcade-style challenges, bosses to face off against, upgrades, and more.

Fatherhood

Today, Persis Play announced its upcoming title Fatherhood for Switch. The developer did not provide a release window.

Fatherhood is a 2.5D side-scrolling adventure game. You’ll play as a father who’s navigating through the dangers of war and protecting his blind daughter, which includes doing things like evading soldiers and rebels, looking for water, food, and medicine, and more.

A new gameplay trailer has been released for The Smurfs: Dreams. Ocellus Studio’s 3D platformer will arrive on Switch on 24 October.

Winteryear Studios Los Angeles have announced that they will be bringing The Next World to Switch. The game is an open-world, action-adventure cyberpunk RPG, set in a dystopian Los Angeles in the year 2108. In it, you’ll be playing as a systems engineer for a corrupt corporation, undertaking corporate espionage missions in exchange for medical costs for your dying mother.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

It’s time for the latest Famitsu’s most wanted games chart. This week, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake remains on top and Mario & Luigi: Brothership sees a big rise to enter the top ten.
