More Pokemon X/Y maintenance taking place next Monday

Pokemon X/Y will be down for maintenance once again next Monday (Tuesday in Europe). Online play, rankings, and other features will be unavailable between 4 PM PT and 12 AM PT. Here’s hoping these maintenance periods are paving the wave for Pokemon Bank’s launch in the west!

Ripstone likely bringing Stick it to the Man to Wii U

Ripstone has shown strong support for Wii U thus far having already released Knytt Underground on the eShop, and Pure Chess to follow in the coming months. A third game from the publisher also appears to be on the way: Stick it to the Man.
USK has listed the platformer for release on Wii U. That’s not a concrete confirmation, but the German ratings board has been generally reliable in the past. Developer Zoink Games also recently teased upcoming news for Wii U.
We’ve reached out to Ripstone about Stick it to the Man’s USK listing, and will provide an update if we receive a response.

Redux: Dark Matters dev planning Wii U and 3DS support

NG.DEV.TEAM previously confirmed Gunlord for the 3DS eShop, but it sounds like we can expect even more love from one of the game’s developers, René Hellwig, on Nintendo platforms going forward.
Hellwig told Nintendo Life that there are plans to support Wii U as well as 3DS. Redux: Dark Matters is one such game that could make its way on the eShop.
Hellwig’s comments in full:
We have plans for Wii U and 3DS. We think Redux would look amazing with stereoscopic 3D graphics! Since we developed the game on PC with HD graphics it will be easy for us to port the game to Nintendo consoles. Nintendo is more straightforward with Indie devs, and we believe that in the coming years Nintendo consoles will be a great place to publish Indie games.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata commented on a few topics ahead of the company’s investor briefing set to take place later today.
Of Nintendo’s buyback initiative, Iwata said that Hiroshi Yamauchi’s heirs will have to pay inheritance taxes and may need to sell shares. He also remarked:
“That won’t merit shareholders, that’s why we decided on the buyback. But that’s not all the reason. We’ve been rewarding our shareholders mainly through high dividends, but we cannot generate as much profit as we used to make.”

Bravely Default character designer on board for Unsung Story

Bravely Default character designer Akihko Yoshida will be contributing to Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians. Yoshida will be working with Playdek and intends to produce character designs.
In a message to fans, Yoshida said:
“I’m going to be helping to create artwork for Unsung Story. I am interested in the game concept of Unsung Story and it looks very exciting. I made a decision to participate.”

ReVeN is a possibility for 3DS

Varia Games could bring its Metroid-inspired indie title ReVeN to the 3DS.
The team told PureNintendo that it’s “looking into the 3DS” as a potential platform for the game.” “It would be amazing to implement our game’s mechanics to the touch screen and the 3D effects of the little handheld,” Varia said.
ReVeN is currently slated for the Wii U eShop. A Kickstarter for the project can be found here.

Nintendo plans to buy back up to ten million of its own shares

As part of its latest financial results released today, Nintendo has announced plans to acquire its own shares.
Up to 10,000,000 shares will be acquired in total by March 31, resulting in a purchase of up to 125,000,000,000 yen. Nintendo will be looking to buy back close to 8 percent of its stock.
Through the acquisition, Nintendo hopes to “improve capital efficiency as a flexible capital policy in accordance with changes in the business environment.”
