3DS

With the official announcement of Pokemon Tretta Lab for 3DS, new details about the game has surfaced.

We’ve learned that the actual package isn’t a true retail game. While it is sold in stores and comes with the scanner, the title itself is only available through the eShop.

Here’s everything we know thus far:

– Main game is called Pokémon Tretta Lab Main System
– Comes packaged with an eShop download code
– 3 modes
– First mode: Tretta Analyzer
– Tretta Analyzer shows you the Pokémon from the Tretta puck scanned in, its type and stats.
– Second mode: Type Checker
– Type Checker lets you compare two Pokemon and see if the type combination matches up
– Third mode: Auto Battle
– Auto Battle lets you scan in two Tretta pucks and automatically shows them or battle, or you can go through several scenarios
– Digital download game distributed via a code is shipped with the scanner, a base for 3DS and 3DS XL, and three Pokémon Tretta pucks: Eevee, Mewtwo & Lucario with a Pichu puck as a pre-order bonus

Mario Golf: World Tour is due out sometime between Q2 and Q3 2013. When exactly it will be launching is unclear at present.

GameFly has, at least, offered one possible date: August 25. The retailer’s listing could be the real deal based on accurate leaks in the past. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Taking its place aside Lost Planet 3, Monster Hunter 4 is poised for a massive marketing push and support in the west as Capcom plans on having it and the aforementioned sci-fi shooter hold up the company into the coming fiscal year. We saw something vaguely similar happen with Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii which sold fairly well for what it was, but I’d wonder if the more “core” orientation of the 3DS will help out Monster Hunter 4 where the third couldn’t gain traction.
