Nintendo has gone live with another Iwata Asks. This time around, Satoru Iwata sat down with some of the staffers behind Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Read on below for a ton of information about the game’s development.

This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following featured content:

Nintendo eShop

Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! – Create wacky creatures called “formees” and bring them to life on your Nintendo 3DS system to populate your very own planet. Choose from more than 600 different forms to complete your creation. The choices you make will determine what abilities your formee will have and how it will move around the world. Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! will be available at retail stores and in the Nintendo eShop on Nov. 5. (For Nintendo 3DS)

Style Savvy: Trendsetters Shopping Spree Demo – Complete the looks of men and women in your town with your very own fashion boutique. As hundreds of customers flock to your boutique, you’ll not only help them keep up with current fashion trends, but you’ll also compete in fashion contests, buy new clothes for your store and customize your shop to reflect your personality. (For Nintendo 3DS)

Did you know that Crashmo lets players take-in game screenshots? The process is quite simple.

While playing, simply pause the game and press “X”. That’s all there is to it! As soon as you’ve done this, a photo will be saved to an SD card.

While I wouldn’t be at all surprised, an Ubisoft product manager seems to have revealed that the Gamepad can output in 3D. At an AC3 press event, they said that Assassin’s Creed III would support the functionality on both the television screen (if you have a 3D TV) and the Gamepad screen, making for a “dual-screen” 3D experience.

Of course, we’ve heard no comment on the matter since then from either Ubisoft or Nintendo, but given that the console itself supports the feature on the television, one would assume that it also supports it on the Gamepad. We can hope.

– Early concepts included allowing players to dig for “gold dust”
– The ability to build outdoor scenery (bridges, benches, etc) was one of the very early ideas
– The addition of being able to play as Mayor didn’t come until later
– Because of this, they had to force Tortimer to retire
– Reiteration: Tweak store hours, gather taxes (donations) from residents
– If you do a bad job as mayor, no one will complain
– Tutorial ceremonies for opening your first bridge, planting your first tree, etc etc
– Mr. Resetti’s terrifying image was discussed
– Lisa is an alpaca, Reiji is a sloth, and a tapir (who runs the Dream Emporium)
– 1.5x the number of items compared to City Folk
– Team hopes that players don’t consider the new items filler
– Upload your town data to the Dream Emporium so others can come visit whether they have your friend code or not
– Players cannot modify your town if they visit while you’re not there
– Two categories of friends: Regular pals and “best friends”
– Each category has special permissions in different towns, assumedly with “best friends” being able to modify things
– Region-specific items (plate of grapes for the Spanish New Year)
