DICE hasn’t managed to get Frostbite running on Wii U in any form.

Forget Frostbite 3. The studio hasn’t even had much luck with Frostbite 2.

A twitter exchange between DICE’s Frostbite technical director Johan Andersson and a fan reveals that the company’s attempts to run Frostbite 2 smoothly on Wii U haven’t exactly been proven fruitful. Some tests were done, but the results were “not too promising”, according to Andersson.

Free Radical Design – before it became Crytek UK – was working on the much-anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront III. The project was eventually canned, though the exact reasons behind this are slightly murky.

You may be interested to hear that Star Wars: Battlefront III was once in the works for Wii alongside other HD versions. A former Free Radical QA staffer, who discussed the game during a recent Reddit AMA, spoke highly of Battlefront III’s use of the Wiimote:

“It’s a small thing, but the controls on the Wii were fantastic. Blasting someone with your Wiimote was up there in the list of cool.”

And when asked about how Star Wars Battlefront III’s Wii visuals stacked up to the other versions, the former employee said:

“It obviously wasn’t HD and the graphics weren’t there compared to the rest but it was the gameplay on the Wii that really made it.”

It’s a shame that we’ll never get to experience a fully-made Free Radical Star Wars: Battlefront III game. I would have liked to give those Wiimote controls a go!

C-Wars is an interesting pixel-art RTS that’s coming to PC later this year, but today we’ve learned that the folks behind the game, ‘Onipunk’, were just approved as a Nintendo 3DS developer, meaning that if their $65K goal is met the game will launch on the platform in October. If you want to support the game or learn more about it, check out the Kickstarter page here.

“Many of the listed games (and others) are indeed coming, but we’re working with Nintendo on the actual release dates and other details. We should have an official release schedule soon – but yes, Wii U is about to get a dose of 16-bit Capcom love. 🙂 “

– Capcom Statement, via Capcom Unity Forums

16-bit love, eh? I guess that means we’ll be seeing some cool Super Nintendo titles hit the Wii U soon! Aside from Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts and Street Fighter II, what more would we want!?

There’s no denying that Precursor Games is seeking astronomical funding in order to make Shadow of the Eternals. Ultimately, there is no guarantee that the studio will be able to reach its $1.5 million goal or deliver on all of its promises.

So what happens to those who pledge? If the goal isn’t reached, will people receive a refund?

Fortunately, the answer is yes – more or less. Precursor updated its crowdfunding FAQ following concerns that funds would not return to their original owners, assuming that the company “cannot raise enough” to make Shadow of the Eternals.

It now reads:

“Our financial goal is a flexible one. All contributions will go directly towards the development of this game and making it a reality. We are committed to making this game, however, if it becomes apparent that we cannot raise enough to develop this project then we will refund all pledges.”

I imagine this will make folks a bit more relaxed about the situation!
