Nintendo says it has no plans to use game-key cards for its own Switch 2 games

There’s good news for collectors today as Nintendo confirmed in a statement that it’s not planning on using game-key cards for its first-party releases on Switch 2.
This backs up what we’ve started to see from the company thus far. Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza were already confirmed to have all of their data on the cartridge. The same also goes for the company’s Nintendo Switch 2 Editions such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

May 15: Nintendo has just come with full details on how it plans to update a variety of Nintendo Switch 1 games with upgrades on Switch 2.
Twelve games will be getting free patches at launch. Improvements depend on the specific title, but we’ll be seeing things like HDR support, improved frame rates, GameShare functionality, and more.

April 2: One tidbit that may have gone under the radar regarding Nintendo Switch 2 is that the system will support variable refresh rate (VRR).
Nintendo notes that VRR “helps games move seamlessly by preventing frame skips and flickering.” Arcade Archives Ridge Racer 2 is one title that has specifically mentioned making use of the tech.
