Today, we’re taking a look at the creepiest Pokedex entries in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet plus a few of the returning Pokemon in The Indigo Disk DLC.
To an extent, Pokedex entries have always been kind of messed up. But things took a turn sometime around Pokemon Sun and Moon – lots of Pokemon started getting particularly eyebrow-raising descriptions. For example, if Drifloon’s body were to burst, its soul would spill out with a screaming sound. We definitely didn’t need to know that!

Switch set console record in 2023 for most game releases in a year

Switch might be towards the end of its lifecycle, but that didn’t stop the platform for setting a console record in 2023 with the most game releases in a year.
In 2023, 2,360 titles came out for the platform. Again, this is the most ever for a console in a single year. Circana’s Anthony Silva provided the noteworthy tidbit.

Smite 2 not on Switch due to concerns about its “power level”

Smite 2 was announced earlier today, but there’s no Switch version in sight even though the previous game is on Nintendo’s console. It sounds like the team would like to have the sequel on there as well, but it’s not something Titan Forge Games deems possible currently.
In an interview with TechRadar, executive producer Alex Cantatore indicated that the company isn’t “sure that we’d be able to develop or deliver a really good experience” on Switch. His full comments are as follows:

How to defeat 7 Star Blaziken in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The new Tera Raid Battle Event for 7 Star Blaziken is currently live in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and we’ve cooked up a guide going over how to defeat it.
Blaziken knows Blaze Kick, Low Kick, Brave Bird, and Earthquake as its normal moves. It’s Tera Flying, and it also uses Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Rock Slide, and Overheat as additional moves during the battle. Blaziken is available to battle from now until January 14, and then again from January 19 to 21. If you don’t have any Pokemon ready for this wave, you can check out our guide and prepare your counter for the next wave.

Japan’s best-selling games of 2023, hardware rankings

New data from Famitsu has provided a listing of the best-selling games in Japan for 2023 plus hardware rankings.
In terms of software, it was a clean sweep for Switch with all ten games coming from that platform. Nintendo had three million sellers with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Pikmin 4.

New Splatfest for Splatoon 3 asks how you spend your holidays

December 22: A new Splatfest is starting soon for Splatoon 3, with an event planned based around the holidays. The theme asks how you spend it. Do you spend time with friends, family, or by yourself?
You’ll be able to give input when the Splatest is held on January 13, 2024. However, players will be able to pick their team earlier on January 5. Note that you’ll be able to get involved at any point – even after the Splatfest begins – so choosing right away isn’t mandatory.
