Wii U eShop

Zen Studios has been working on downloadable content for its 3DS eShop games for a long time. A really long time, in fact.

The company hasn’t said much about DLC in recent months, but it’s still on the way. Zen Studios shared the brief update on Twitter and also noted that a release date for Zen Pinball 2’s Wii U eShop release is coming soon.

Renegade Kid isn’t planning on ceasing its support of the Wii U once Mutant Mudds Deluxe launches on the eShop.

Co-founder Jools Watsham told ONM that he is a big fan of the Wii U, and “bringing Mutant Mudds Deluxe to the Wii U has been a lot of fun.” Watsham also confirmed that the studio “will definitely be developing more Wii U games in the future.”

He said:

“I love the Wii U. I think it is a great console. Yes, bringing Mutant Mudds Deluxe to the Wii U has been a lot of fun. Playing it on the GamePad and TV is a really fun and different experience. We will definitely be developing more Wii U games in the future.”

A Kickstarter for a project titled “Anima: Gate of Memories” began at the very end of November. The campaign just came to an end today, and raised well over the $90,000 goal.

Anima: Gate of Memories was originally intended for the PC and Mac, but it’ll also be heading to the Wii U eShop.

The game features an action battle system with customization elements. Different skills can be applied, each of which brings its own visual flair to the characters. There will be quick-time events, full 3D visuals, and an orchestrated soundtrack.

Two prototype videos can be found above.

Zen Studios VP of marketing & public relations Mel Kirk is high on the company’s experience in making Zen Pinball 2 for the Wii U eShop.

Kirk praised Nintendo for its support, noting “we really could not have asked for more support from them.” On the whole, the entire experience has been “extremely positive”, and Kirk believes “the doors are wide open for other small studios to bring games to the Wii U.”

Kirk’s comments in full:

“We have experienced the same challenges that are presented on any new platform or device. Nintendo’s support has been excellent, we really could not have asked for more support from them. Overall, it has been an extremely positive experience and I think the doors are wide open for other small studios to bring games to the Wii U. This is an amazing development for Nintendo; huge, positive changes have been made since the days of WiiWare.”
