Wii U eShop

A few Mutant Mudds Deluxe details are included in this month’s issue of Nintendo Force.

Twenty new levels will be included in the downloadable Wii U game, as well as a new power-up and enemies. “Ghostified” versions of old enemies are present in these areas in addition to brand new ghost creatures. To take them down, Max will need to take advantage of the temporary “Ghost Shot” power-up – another brand new addition.

The new levels can be entered through a door in the hub world. As players complete the twenty original levels, brand new stages will be unlocked.

Developer Renegade Kid is currently mulling over the possibility of Miiverse support. If the studio heads in this direction, players will be able to leave comments to assist other struggling gamers.

It isn’t Thursday, but that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from updating the Wii U eShop in Europe. Users will find new content related to ZombiU on the digital store today. At last, the long-awaited demo is now up for download. The demo hasn’t launched on the North American eShop, but perhaps that’ll change on Thursday.

Satoru Iwata made a quick mention of a Wii U Virtual Console back in November. At the time, only two aspects were confirmed – that yes, Nintendo is working on the service for its new console, and it will support the GamePad.

A Nintendo of America has reconfirmed the Wii U Virtual Console and Off-TV play to Kotaku, but wouldn’t divulge any additional information.

The representative said:

“We do not have any specifics to share at this time. However, we are moving ahead with development of Virtual Console for Wii U, and we plan to make it so you can play it on the Wii U GamePad alone.”

Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition will be on sale starting today. Head on over to the Wii U eShop for a 30% discount. Hyper Drive Edition should be available for $7 compared to the standard $10 price tag.

Developer WayForward tweeted:

Zen Pinball 2 was originally set to launch on the Wii U eShop in December. Obviously that didn’t happen. The studio is now hoping to have the game ready to go sometime this month.

But why the delay? Community manager “BarbieBobomb” explained that Zen Pinball 2 is the first free download title with paid content on any Nintendo system. As a result, Zen Studios and the Big N have been working extra hard to avoid any potential issues.

“Zen Pinball 2 is the first game of its kind on any Nintendo system (free platform download with paid DLC) so we’re working with Nintendo to make sure there are no issues at launch. It’s a first for them, so we’re doing what we can to make sure everything goes smoothly, even if it means delaying a bit.”
