Renegade Kid on bringing Mutant Mudds Deluxe to Wii U, why ghost levels
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Believe it or not, Mutant Mudds Deluxe will be Renegade Kid’s first console title. The studio has developed plenty of content for the 3DS/DS, but this will be its debut experience with a Nintendo home system.
Speaking with Nintendo Force, Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham explained the decision to bring Mutant Mudds Deluxe to Wii U:
“The thought of playing Mutant Mudds on an HDTV is a very exciting one for me. I have always been a huge fan of handheld gaming, but bringing the Mudds experience to the living room feels very grand. With the fact that Nintendo has been easy and awesome to work with in regards to the 3DS eShop, I knew that bringing Mutant Mudds to the Wii U eShop would be equally pleasurable.
“How accessible the hardware manufacturers make their digital outlets is a big deal for small developers, and Nintendo has proven that they understand that. Developing games is difficult enough without having to worry about the ‘shop’ you wish to sell it in.”
Watsham additionally touched on the new ghost levels in the game. He doesn’t have a concrete idea as to how the idea was born, but Super Mario World’s Ghost Houses may have provided some unconscious inspiration.
“My brain is full of Nintendo thoughts, and I can’t help but be inspired by the amazing games of Nintendo’s past. On a subconscious level the Ghost Houses from Super Mario World must have crept into my mind and spoke to me. I do not have any other explanation for why there are now ghosts in the game! Well, apart from the fact that ghosts are cool and add a nice sense of mystery and mischief.”
Kamiya: Bayonetta 1 eShop release up to SEGA/Nintendo

On Twitter, one fan messaged Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya regarding an eShop release of the original Bayonetta. Kamiya responded by saying that such a decision would be up to SEGA/Nintendo.
It’s up to Sega or Ninty. RT @linkyshink: PG should consider a technically proficient eShop release of Bayonetta 1 on Wii U.

Some Nintendo fans may not have had the chance to play the original Bayonetta, so bringing the first title to the eShop could be a smart move.

New Mutant Mudds Deluxe details
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
A few Mutant Mudds Deluxe details are included in this month’s issue of Nintendo Force.
Twenty new levels will be included in the downloadable Wii U game, as well as a new power-up and enemies. “Ghostified” versions of old enemies are present in these areas in addition to brand new ghost creatures. To take them down, Max will need to take advantage of the temporary “Ghost Shot” power-up – another brand new addition.
The new levels can be entered through a door in the hub world. As players complete the twenty original levels, brand new stages will be unlocked.
Developer Renegade Kid is currently mulling over the possibility of Miiverse support. If the studio heads in this direction, players will be able to leave comments to assist other struggling gamers.

Satoru Iwata made a quick mention of a Wii U Virtual Console back in November. At the time, only two aspects were confirmed – that yes, Nintendo is working on the service for its new console, and it will support the GamePad.
A Nintendo of America has reconfirmed the Wii U Virtual Console and Off-TV play to Kotaku, but wouldn’t divulge any additional information.
The representative said:
“We do not have any specifics to share at this time. However, we are moving ahead with development of Virtual Console for Wii U, and we plan to make it so you can play it on the Wii U GamePad alone.”

Zen Studios explains Zen Pinball 2 delay
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Zen Pinball 2 was originally set to launch on the Wii U eShop in December. Obviously that didn’t happen. The studio is now hoping to have the game ready to go sometime this month.
But why the delay? Community manager “BarbieBobomb” explained that Zen Pinball 2 is the first free download title with paid content on any Nintendo system. As a result, Zen Studios and the Big N have been working extra hard to avoid any potential issues.
“Zen Pinball 2 is the first game of its kind on any Nintendo system (free platform download with paid DLC) so we’re working with Nintendo to make sure there are no issues at launch. It’s a first for them, so we’re doing what we can to make sure everything goes smoothly, even if it means delaying a bit.”
