n-Space has usually had something in development for Nintendo platforms at all times, but for the first time in “probably 10 years,” they have nothing in the works.

According to n-Space’s Dan O’Leary:

“It’s kind of a sad thing to say, because for a long time n-Space has been known as a Nintendo-friendly developer. We certainly have loved all our time working with them. We think their hardware’s great. We think more often than not they have the right mindset in the difficult game world we live in…There’s just very low demand right now for their work through the publisher side. Which is ironic, I think that’ll probably swing back. The news was just talking about how Nintendo was beating everybody with hardware sales. The DS and 3DS sales curves have been slower than publishers would have liked. That may change, but I can tell you right now we’re not working on anything.”

The studio found a niche on Nintendo handhelds over the past few years. n-Space worked on the Call of Duty and James Bond DS games. The company also made Heroes of Ruin, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D, and the past couple of Skylanders 3DS releases.

The Wonderful 101 could have been a very different game. In an interview with VideoGamer, director Hideki Kamiya revealed that the original plan was to feature “an all-star cast of Nintendo characters plus characters from other games”.

Kamiya stated:

“Originally I got an order from the president of Platinum Games, Tatsuya Minami, asking me to create a game idea that had an all-star cast of Nintendo characters plus characters from other games and that’s how the project started.

“When you try and incorporate many characters with high popularity, there are fans who like certain characters more than others. I thought how I could satisfy everyone and make everyone happy and I came up with the idea of why not having everyone displayed in the game at the same time. That’s where the idea was born.”

Platinum’s original idea and resulting work were put on hold. Eventually, the studio revisited the game, but we now know things changed dramatically for the final product.

Frankfurt am Main (Germany) August 21, 2013 – Crytek have ushered in a new era for their state-of-the-art CRYENGINE technology, with the launch of the new CRYENGINE; an ever-evolving technology service, with always up to date access to the latest features in CRYENGINE for commercial game licensees.

CRYENGINE users will also benefit from the coming together of Crytek’s Engine Licensing and Research & Development teams; a move designed to double the level of one-to-one care game licensees can tap into, in essence offering Crytek’s R&D as a service for developers using the new CRYENGINE.

On top of these changes, the new CRYENGINE supports development on current and next generation consoles (Xbox One, PlayStation®4, and WiiU™), alongside PC, with further platforms to be added in the near future.

SEGA Europe released a slightly longer Gamescom trailer for Sonic Lost World today, revealing a “Deadly Six Edition” of the game for Wii U. A few seconds of footage shows bosses from NiGHTS, including Puffy. It appears that initial copies of Sonic Lost World will include the Deadly Six Edition content.
