Update: Giving this a final bump for the weekend!

Just wanted to give you all an update on things, and a thank you as well!

Mario Kart 8 is finally available around the world. How are you all enjoying the game thus far? We want to know!

Austin and I plan on putting up a little feature about Mario Kart 8 in the near future, and we’d love to receive some feedback from you guys. Simply fill out our little form here and you’ll be good to go! If you have any additional comments, you can send them in via email or in the comments section below.

Thanks all!

Wanted to give this one last bump to the front page. For the most part, we’ve mostly got this shift covered, but we have one more potential slot open! Please get in touch if you have any interest.

Nintendo Everything is looking for a news writer to potentially add to the team. We’re seeking those who could cover the site at times between 12 AM ET and 8 AM ET.

That breaks down to…

11 PM CT – 7 AM CT
9 PM PT – 5 AM PT
5 AM – 1 PM in the UK
2 PM – 10 PM in Australia

We don’t need this entire eight-hour slot to be filled, but we’re looking for those who can help us keep Nintendo Everything up to date on a regular basis, Mondays through Fridays. Only have a couple of free hours available? We still want to hear from you if you’re interested! This is unfortunately a non-paying position, though we’d greatly appreciate your help.

Getting in touch is simple. You can reach out through our contact form or on Twitter. Hope to hear from some of you soon!

On another note, I wanted to quickly mention that Nintendo Everything may be a bit quieter than usual tomorrow. I’m almost always available to cover the site for numerous hours each day, but I won’t be around much of the early morning/mid afternoon due to a personal matter. You’ll probably be seeing a few posts from Austin, and I’ll be sure to cover anything that’s missed once I return!

Wanted to mention this in passing just for a moment. Over the weekend, we finally updated Gaming Everything’s design to match what we have going on here at NE. The two layouts are nearly identical now, though GE does feature a red color scheme.

For those unaware, Gaming Everything is just like Nintendo Everything, except with a focus on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. A majority of the updates are also handled by yours truly.

So check it out if you’re interested. Also, you can find Gaming Everything on Twitter here. I noticed that I never once mentioned this on here previously, or on GE for that matter… I’m pretty bad when it comes to promoting these kinds of things.

That’s all for now!

edit: Nevermind, Laura saved the day. Podcast will be up tomorrow!

Hey guys, it’s Austin! I’m writing a thing here to let you know that the episode we recorded of “Here’s a Podcast” (which was episode 79) this weekend doesn’t seem to want to play– or is perhaps corrupted– on my computer here. I’m trying to recover the file itself, but the nature of the recording this week was weirder than normal so it’s proving a bit difficult. With any luck we’ll have it for you tomorrow, but if we can’t get it back then we’ll have to miss our first ever week of the show. Jack, Laura, and myself apologize from the bottom of our endlessly deep hearts.

Happy New Year!

Posted on 10 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in Site updates | 13 Comments

Happy New Year! 2014 is certainly a year to be excited for in the world of Nintendo, as new games such as Super Smash Bros., X, Mario Kart 8, and more are on the horizon.

As far as what lies ahead for Nintendo Everything… well, there’s plenty! We finally launched a new and proper design for the site on our sixth anniversary a few months ago, and we continue to tinker away at new feature additions and small visual changes, which we’ll hopefully have news on soon.

In 2014, I’m also going to try and emphasize video content a bit more. I’ve had one particular idea in my head – for at least a year, if not two – that I’ve been dying to try, but timing and other factors have made it difficult for me to pursue previously. I’ll be looking to change that this year. Along with my new idea (that’s all you’ll get out of me on that for now!), I’ll be continuing with Random Thoughts and we’ll possibly introduce a couple of additional things as well.

Aside from videos, you can expect other regular updates from us – tons of additional news, more features, more reviews, and more podcasts (thanks Austin, Jack, and Laura!).

Finally, I’ve been meaning to bring up one more site-related topic before moving on. I admittedly do a terrible job at promoting, so you may be unaware of things like our YouTube and Facebook pages. Did you also know that we have a sister site that covers everything gaming? Don’t forget about our forum as well!

Now it’s time to get mushy!

Although Nintendo Everything is ultimately a “blog”, I tend to leave any and all personal updates aside (including mushy stuff like this) so that content can take the spotlight here. At the end of the day, that’s what you guys care about! Still, I hope you all know how much I truly appreciate each and every one one of you. I appreciate the comments you all bring. I appreciate all feedback we receive – both good and bad. I also appreciate some of the very neat people I’ve met “virtually” through the site – especially on the forum and comments section. Wait… this is starting to sound like Thanksgiving with me sharing what I’m thankful for! Haha.

If you ever have any comments, questions, or concerns, you can always feel free to send an email, a message on the forum, or a tweet. Frankly, I’d love to hear from all of you! Is there anything you’re not satisfied with on Nintendo Everything? Annoying ad causing problems? Have an idea for something you’d like to see on the site? What do you want to see here in the future? Just let me know. I welcome all kinds of feedback.

With that, Happy 2014! Let’s make this year a good one!

Missing a couple of people here, but since Phil created the fantastic piece of art above, wanted to share it all with you! Jack (top left), Austin (top right), Laura (bottom left) and Brian (bottom right)

Happy Holidays from all of us at Nintendo Everything! Merry Christmas, Happy (late) Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and wishing you the best in the new year.

Thank you all so much for your support in 2013. Frankly, Nintendo Everything wouldn’t be much without you guys! Looking forward to an even better 2014 filled with more Nintendo fun. You may even see a couple of new things from us next year!

Get some gaming in, spend some time with your family, and enjoy the holidays! I’m going to try and find some sleep for once… haha.

I was originally hoping to host November’s Game Night today, but with Austin’s Extra Life craziness and some personal things on my end, I figured it’d be best to reschedule. We’re now set for November 10 at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT. Mark your calenders!

Unaware as to what Game Night is? Check out this post for lots of handy details.

Unbelievably, Nintendo Everything is celebrating its sixth anniversary today. That number alone – “six” – completely boggles my mind. When our doors opened in 2007, I could never have predicted that the site would still be alive and kicking today.

Now, it’s true that we’ve gone through plenty of other anniversaries since NE came about, but this one is particularly special. I wanted it to be special in order to commemorate today’s occasion. And so for the first time in Nintendo Everything’s history, we’re introducing a major redesign.
