Nordic Games makes Legend of Kay Anniversary official
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 7 Comments
Due to leaks from retailers, we knew that Legend of Kay Anniversary was happening and was bound for Wii U. Yet it wasn’t until today that publisher Nordic Games made the title official.
Legend of Kay, a 3D-action platformer, originally hit the PlayStation 2 back in 2005. A DS port came to market in 2010. This new version features revamped visuals and a few additional features.
Speaking about today’s announcement, Nordic Games business and product development director Reinhard Pollice said:
Legend of Kay was a true gem on the Playstation 2 platform. Our strategy is to focus on our IPs and make them available to as many players as possible and also on the current generation of consoles. We keep our options open to expand on the Legend of Kay franchise in the future.
Legend of Kay Anniversary is due out this summer. On Wii U, it will be priced at $24.99.
Take a look at some screenshots from Legend of Kay Anniversary below. We should have more on the game very soon!

Nintendo wants to support Splatoon with more content after launch
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 13 Comments
After Splatoon launches, Nintendo will continue supporting the game with additional content. Producer Hisashi Nogami teased upcoming plans while speaking with GamesRadar, and noted that the team hopes Splatoon “will become a franchise that Nintendo can be proud of.”
Below are Nogami’s full words:
We can’t go into a lot of detail on that today, but we do have some plans to follow up with content to keep interest in the game post-launch. We on the development team are thinking of the launch as a first step of sorts. We hope to add to that in terms of content, and even to the degree that we’re hoping that this will become a franchise that Nintendo can be proud of.
Mario Kart 8 received a ton of DLC after launch, and now we’re starting to see the same thing with Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS. Might Splatoon be next?

toi8 on his new challenge with Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, a bit on character designs
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 8 Comments
toi8 is busy helping out with Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s character designs. On his official blog, toi8 spoke about what the project means to him, and touched on how it’s a new challenge for him.
Hello. I’m toi8, and I’ll be in charge of the main character designs for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. As for when we began talking about this title, it was around the time I finished working on a piece of light novel cover art. It was around the time that I was handling one-shot work, and asked myself “what should I do next?”
As part of the generation that grew up on Nintendo consoles such as the Famicom and Super Famicom, the name “Nintendo” has a very special meaning to me. I remember being very excited upon hearing about the [Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem] collaboration.
Years later, I’ve finally been able to see it take form right before my eyes, and I find myself filled with deep emotion.
Now, let’s quickly talk a little bit about the character designs. The stage of the game is set in Shibuya, and the background shows a gorgeous world, so the character design’s direction will go with a highly saturated, gorgeous look.
Everything I’ve drawn up until now has been low saturation, so this will be a challenge of colors!

Sonic Boom was once known as “Sonic Synergy”
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 7 Comments
The website for Edward Moore, a UX/UI design consultant on Sonic Boom, reveals that the Wii U and 3DS games were known as “Sonic Synergy” at one point.
Moore’s site also houses images of UI diagrams and early concept artwork. Another image – shown below – also seems to depict a slightly different-looking Sonic.
As The Sonic Stadium points out, “Sonic’s arms are back to being tan in colour, spikes are also different, much more like the Sega Sonic version. Amy also has some differences too.”
