Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Animal Crossing New Horizons New Leaf comparison

Today, we’re looking at the two most popular games in the Animal Crossing series: New Horizons and New Leaf. More specifically, we’re comparing and contrasting them to determine which is the better experience and how a future game could blend elements of both to make something really special.

Three Nintendo 3DS games are joining the Nintendo Selects lineup in Europe starting tomorrow: Super Mario Maker for 3DS, Animal Crossing: New Leaf: Welcome amiibo and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They will be available at a discounted price both in retail stores and on the 3DS eShop. Today, Nintendo announced that an additional 10% discount on the eShop for these games can be claimed via My Nintendo starting tomorrow at 10:00 BST.

In case you’re wondering, the new Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo are compatible with Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo. Link (Archer) summons Wolf Link, Link (Rider) summons Epona, Guardian and Bokoblin both summon Ganon, and Zelda summons Medli.

You were originally able to unlock these Zelda characters in New Leaf with the 30th anniversary amiibo. To recap, 8-bit Link is tied to Ganon, Ocarina of Time Link is for Epona, and Toon Link / Zelda both unlock Medli.

Original (11/22): Over in Japan, a new update is available for Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Version 1.5 arrived earlier today.

Today’s patch is small in nature, and is not up in either North America and Europe. It merely addresses an issue with error [004 – 6006] when players downloaded presents/campers. Nintendo also says that there are additional enhancements to improve the user experience.
