A sequel to the Wii U eShop game Kung Fu Rabbit could happen. Neko Entertainment recently confirmed that the studio would be open to another title in the series if the game sells well.

Neko said:

“Regarding Kung Fu Rabbit and a possible sequel, it is not something depending on us from now. If we sell thousand and thousand of Kung Fu Rabbit version, of course we could work on a sequel : it would be a proof, players enjoyed the game and would like to play more. We can just cross our fingers.”

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association gave a look at the Tokyo Game Show 2013 main visual today.

This year’s main theme is “Games: Limitless Evolution”. The character above, “She”, represents this.

“She” is a futuristic woman who can transform herself into something “beyond the reach of imagination.”

Ippei Gyoubu created the Tokyo Game Show 2013 visual this year. Gyoubu has been on board with the expo since 2010.

Gyoubu commented:

“Games make a change entering a new phase that games themselves cannot imagine due to a never ending evolution. Games that continue to evolve unlimitedly have been represented. While character is the core of games, scattered parts are tools for games to evolve. The condition in which character combines with parts and transform itself depending on the needs of the age is truly the ‘infinite possibilities’ that games have.”

Exstetra teaser site open

FuRyu opened an official teaser site for Exstetra today. You can find it here. The page only houses some small images from the RPG at present, but more content should be on the way.

Game Watch chatted with 3D Altered Beast producer Yosuke Okunari and M2’s Naoki Horii. The two talked about the new “Whimsical Transformation” element, long development of the project, and more.

A summary of Okunari and Horii’s comments can be found below.

– Okunari started out by saying he was surprised to be participating in an interview for Altered Beast of all titles
– Was already decided on for them to go with the Genesis version instead of the Arcade version
– When the project of Sega’s 3D enhanced classics started, 3D Sonic the Hedgehog wasn’t the only title they had in mind
– New “Whimsical Transformation” option: allows you to have a chance of going with a different transformation if you’re not satisfied with the one you have
– Ex: in one situation, the players collected the three Spirit Balls to become the Thunder Dragon; Whim Transformation is used to transform the two into the Bear Man
– This could be a useful option depending on the player’s preference, but Okunari believes that it could also create some amusing conflicts between the two players, should one rather not change their transformation
– “Whimsical Transformation” was difficult to name
– Was originally going to be called “Random Transformation”
– Director Matsuoka wasn’t satisfied with the name
– List of other names include: Dokidoki Transformation, Dice Transformation, Gamble Transformation
– Okunari definitely thought that local play should be added

Skylanders has been a massive success in the video game space, but Activision has no plans to bring the IP to other entertainment areas. Activision’s VP of consumer marketing John Coyne told MCV that the company isn’t considering a TV show or movie at the moment.

He said:

“Kids, when they see the new toys, it is a new form of content for them. My own son, when he gets a new Giant, he naturally wants to go and play levels he has already played, but with a new character to see what it can do. In terms of a TV show or a movie, no there are not any plans. We believe the game is the entertainment. You talk to kids who are real fans of the franchise, and they will be able to tell you Gill Grunt’s powers, backstory, what his friends are and generally what’s going on in the world of Skylanders. The same sort of things that they are able to articulate around a TV show or a movie.”

VP of Activision’s business unit Joshua Taub also said: “The video game is the movie.”
