This comes from the game’s creator, Rasmus Kønig Sørensen (AwesomeBlade Software):

The games storyline is somewhat based on my own story. Our hero is this depressed and unemployed 32-year old guy, who hasn’t been able to get a job after finishing his exams one year ago. Our hero gets sucked into this happy, vivid and colorful 8-bit world where he has to overcome many obstacles to help him out of the status quo of unemployment and help him support his family.

So this is a personal story that deals with some adult issues like unemployment and feeling inadequate. Combine that with a vivid and colorful 8-bit world and you get something very different. This pretty much sums up my own story and I felt I had to do something about my own situation. To keep myself from going crazy from employment – I started programming 8-Bit Boy while looking for a job. So you might say that I also got sucked into this parallel 8-bit world of my own. I really hope you will enjoy 8-Bit Boy and relate to my story.

12th November 2012 – Get ready for a white (or yellow) Christmas as Nintendo brings a new limited edition Nintendo 3DS XL White and a limited edition Nintendo 3DS XL Pikachu Yellow console as the ultimate Christmas gifts this festive season.

For any Mario lover, the two Nintendo 3DS XL White consoles will be at the top of your Christmas wishlist. Whether you prefer traditional platforming action or fast-paced, arcade-style racing, the choice is yours, as you can pick from either having Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3D Land pre-installed on your system.

Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt has answered a bunch of questions about the Wii U. There’s also a little bit of 3DS talk.

Head past the break to see what Moffitt had to say about Wii U ads, possible shortages, keeping third-parties interested in making games for the console, two GamePad experiences, and more.

BioWare Montreal is taking the lead on development of the next Mass Effect. The team previously worked on cinematics, N7 missions, and post-release content for Mass Effect 2, and multiplayer/single-player content for Mass Effect 3.

Casey Hudson is still acting as the executive producer for the new title. This time around though, a project director will be working under him.

The next Mass Effect will make use of EA’s Frostbite 2 engine, which studio director Yanick Roy says is “enhanced by many of the systems that the Dragon Age III team has already spent a lot of time building.”

Roy also wrote on the BioWare blog today:

“The other thing I can tell you is that, while it will be very respectful of the heritage built over the course of the first three games, with the original trilogy now concluded and the switch over to a new engine, we are exploring new directions, both on the gameplay and story fronts. You can still expect the pillars the franchise is known for to be fully intact though, including diverse alien races, a huge galaxy to explore, and of course rich, cinematic storytelling.”

Roy added:

“We’re all looking forward to telling you more about this next Mass Effect game, but it’s probably going to be quite a while before you hear from us again. We know you have high expectations for the franchise and we want to make sure whatever we show you lives up to those expectations.”

BioWare Montreal is currently looking for new staffers to join the team. Job listings can be found here.
