A new Wii update is now available for download. Given its successor will be out in just a few days, this could be the old console’s final firmware upgrade.
Nintendo hasn’t officially said what the new update does. One probable guess is that by applying firmware, you’ll be able to transfer content from the Wii to Wii U.
We initially weren’t sure if BlayzBloo: Clone Phantasma, announced via Famitsu yesterday, would be a downloadable title like its predecessor. Additional information confirms this will be the case. Japanese 3DS users will be able to download Clone Phantasma from the eShop this winter.
According to Famitsu, ten playable characters – such as Ragna, Noel, and Jin – and seven stages will be included. It offers a wacky story mode as well, apparently.
Activision released Call of Duty: Black Ops II this year. That means in 2013, we should be returning to the “Modern Warfare” sub-series.
Siliconera is reporting that voicework is already being recorded for upcoming game in Los Angeles. It’s rumored to be featuring a main character – codenamed “Ben Burke” – who is “a battle hardened veteran in his mid-thirties with a nihilistic point of view.”
Ben Burke will allegedly recite the following lines in the Modern Warfare release:
“Reminds you of Phuket, doesn’t it? Only this time the dust gives you cancer… OK, park yourself and get ready. When this thing kicks off, put a hole in anything that moves.”
“This is Sentinel Zero One, successful crypto change on C2 net break, requesting immediate update of blue force picture and status of artillery, over. I have you broken and unreadable, I say again, requesting updates to friendly positions and status of arty support. Do you read, over?”
“We’ve got KVA on the move! They’re going to strongpoint the main gate, ETA two mikes! We’re providing support for our heavy rollers! Ready up and let’s move!”
“Goliath, this is Sentinel Zero One! We have enemy armor at the gate, hundred meters north of our position! Requesting close-air grid mark three-one-six!”
Siliconera also writes that there will be a scene in the game with John “Soap” MacTavish, taking place in Somalia. It will play out as a flashback.
– “Special tablets” shared over Streetpass are similar to the treasure maps from DQIX on DS
– Share these tablets to locate treasures
– New “special” tablets give you a clue to access new places and treasure
– Decipher the clue (ie, “deep, isolated cave” and “slime-laden forest”) to find the new area and retrieve the treasure
After two cancelled Mega Man games – Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3 – things may not be looking so great for the blue bomber.
On the bright side, we do know that Capcom intends to celebrate Mega Man’s 25th anniversary. Senior vice president Christian Svensson also explicitly said fans have “not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds”, while speaking with Nintendo Power.
Svensson told the magazine:
“I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.”
