Super Mario Land director Yoshiaki Koizumi has expressed some interest in seeing older Nintendo games in 3D. When asked if there are any titles he’d like to remake, he said:
“I guess I can’t really say one title specifically because then the world will expect us to make it and I’ll get into a whole lot of trouble!
“I can say that I really would like to see a lot of those games that use 3D worlds on 2D display just so I could see what they look like in 3D and see what kind of different experiences people would have playing through them on a 3D display. So in that sense I would love to see Sunshine and both Galaxy games presented in 3D, and a lot of the Zelda [games] would be interesting too.”
Koizumi has already seen one of his wishes fulfilled: Zelda: Ocarina of Time is already out on the 3DS, and I’m sure we’ll see more from the franchise on the system in the future. I doubt Nintendo would port the Galaxy games over, though perhaps Sunshine is a possibility.
In Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure for the Nintendo 3DS, you can Bring Your Toys to Life in a boldly innovative action-platformer game where players collect real-world interaction figures and teleport them directly into the game using a mystical Portal of Power.
Propelled by a story-driven adventure, players take on the role of a powerful Portal Master who can control over 30 different characters, including the beloved fire-breathing dragon Spyro. Players will embark on a fantastical journey to the Radiant Isles, exploring mysterious lands, battling menacing creatures, and collecting treasures while on a quest to save the Isles from the malicious Hektore.
Update: Game Night is now over!
3DS owners who are unsure if they qualified for the Ambassador program will soon have a way to verify that they will be included. Nintendo says that North American fans will be able to check their status starting sometime next week. Nintendo of Europe will also be offering a tool to find out if they are an Ambassador in the very near future.
On this week’s episode: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, 3D Classics Xevious, Just Dance Summer Party, New 3DS Price and Final Fantasy III.
