A new 3DS update, firmware 2.1.0-3U, has gone live in North America and Europe. It’s likely available in Japan and Australia as well.
According to an official post provided by Nintendo support, the upgrade enhances system stability and users can now receive automatic updates if the 3DS encounters a wireless Internet connection. Additionally, as was promised about a week ago, a small issue with Ridge Racer has been fixed.
Nintendo describes the update as the following:
- Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments to enhance user experience
- A correction for the screen freeze symptom experienced in the Ridge Racer 3D game
- You can receive automatic updates when a wireless internet connection is available. When the download is complete, you will receive a dialog on the HOME Menu detailing the steps to install the update

Some fans are speculating that the project is Baten Kaitos related. I’m a huge fan of that franchise and would welcome another sequel, but I am a bit doubtful that they would work on another entry since the sales of the first two games weren’t particularly impressive.
Update: Bumping this to the front page since the original embedded video wasn’t working. It should appear now!
It’s almost weird to me seeing Robin Williams talking about video games this much. I’m used to watching him in his films… like Mrs. Doubtfire. That’s still an amazing movie, by the way!
This information comes from Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham…
“We’re aiming for approximately $9.99. It? may vary anywhere from $7.99 to $14.99 on the final price.”
$9.99 should be a perfectly acceptable prize! To put things in perspective, Cave Story on DSiWare costs the same amount. Hopefully you 3DS owners out there will consider purchasing the title, as it’ll likely be one of the first stand-out eShop releases on the service.
I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a bunch of other neat easter eggs/game references as more people have chance to play the game. Not just for Skyward Sword, but possibly other titles as well. It’s been interesting to see what sort of changes and additions have made to Ocarina of Time 3D, including the small touches.

In other news, I’ve encountered an issue with our new gallery system. For now I’m using the clunky, old system for images. I’ll look into the problem and hopefully switch back to the new galleries soon.
