Introducing Doctor Lautrec…
KONAMI unveils the latest puzzle hero for Nintendo 3DS
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed a new puzzle-based adventure game set in the 19th Century Paris for the new Nintendo 3DS handheld system, provisionally entitled Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights.
Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights centres on a treasure map that details a series of locations the player must visit as the game progresses. Doctor Lautrec, an archaeology professor, is a combative figure whose love of mysteries and history draw him to follow the many instructions the ancient map details. Lautrec is not a popular man at the University where he teaches, with his unorthodox attitudes also reflected in his less than moral ways of tackling puzzles. Thankfully, he is assisted by a young, eager student called Sophie who uses the adventure to learn from the master and to temper his… excesses.
– Noritaka Funamizu says the game’s concept is “an action game that anyone can play.”
– Funamizu: “I’ve been making nothing but hard action games and was told by light users that ‘it’s so tough that I can’t play.’ For some time now, I’ve wanted to make a game that even these people can play.”

– Kadokawa Games will be promoting the game through a commercial featuring comedian Black Mayonnaise
This information comes from Reggie Fils-Aime…
“It certainly has been a reaction that has been a bit over the top. [Children 7 and above] can certainly enjoy the 3D features. We are convinced that the Nintendo 3DS is the next entertainment breakthrough. We think it’s going to set us apart.”
Reggie also responded to critics that believe Nintendo is in decline…
“Some so-called experts don’t understand how the maturation cycle works in this industry and the fact is, no one can sell 10 million units of any system year after year. Our competitors continue to be at a place of having to react to what we’ve done and not the other way around.”
– Artdink developing the game
– Units/missions from Gundam Unicorn, Gundam I, Gundam II, Gundam III, Z Gundam Heir to the Stars, Z Gundam Lovers, Z Gundam Love is the Pulse of the Stars and Gundam Char’s Counterattack (movie)
