San Francisco, Calif. – October 23, 2008 – “Are you seeing this, General? – My people are all dead! What the hell did you lead us into here?” – Major Kane.

Mastiff and Renegade Kid are proud to announce that they have teamed up with writers James McDonough and Adam Patyk (Hellboy, Transformers and much more) of THE ENEMY to turn the dark and twisted storyline into something even more ominous.

“Working on Moon has been an absolute blast,” said writer Adam Patyk of THE ENEMY. “The fantastic gameplay and striking graphics are some of the first things you notice about the game, and that played a big role in why we were so excited when Mastiff asked us to get involved in helping to refine the characters and story for Moon.”

Nintendo has released a new update to the Wii’s firmware, which is (what some are calling) version 3.4. It is currently unclear whether the update disables the Twilight hack/Homebrew Channel. Below is a message Nintendo has provided regarding the update.

On Thursday, 10/23 starting at 7 AM, the Shopping Channel is undergoing maintenance longer than scheduled, and is currently not in service. We apologize for any inconvenience due to this maintenance.

With this maintenance, the following changes will be made.

Wii Points will soon be called Nintendo Points, and all references as such will be updated. All other functionality with Nintendo Points will remain the same.

The controller usage explanation screen will be updated.

The controller usage explanation screen will be separated from the purchase screen. Along with this, the user will be prompted to confirm that they have any necessary accessories before being able to press the Purchase button.

The design of the icons displayed will be updated.

Koji Igarashi, producer of Castlevania titles throughout recent years, has expressed interest in creating more games in the series for the DS. So no – Order of Ecclesia may not be the last that we see of the series on the DS.

“I would definitely like to develop still more Castlevania games for the DS platform! For the US market, though, the retail price on DS games are traditionally very low – $30, maybe $40 if the game card itself has a larger capacity. The development costs for Castlevania do tend to be higher than average for a DS game, so it’s hard to get some concepts for the series approved. I love the DS and want to continue work on it, but I’m not sure if it’s the best option from a pure business standpoint.”

This is unsurprising considering how well all three DS titles have been received and some of Mr. Igarshi’s best work can be seen on Nintendo’s latest handheld.

Wanted to save this post after all of the big news of the day was posted. This is a pretty big day for Nintendo Everything, as you can probably guess! Make sure you check out Malinko’s post about a site redesign from yesterday. And before I forget, I’ll have a site update on the weekend….Keep your eyes open for that!

——————–

Okay, that title might have been a bit over-the-top. But yes, Nintendo Everything “officially” turns one today. Even though the site has technically been up for a little more than a year, I consider that, a year ago today, the site really began.

I’ve been mulling over what to write for awhile. It’s difficult for me to gather my thoughts, especially since so much has happened over the past 365 days. I mean, a lot has happened in terms of both the website and in the gaming world. We’ve seen the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and tons of other amazing titles. We went through Nintendo’s disappointing E3 conference, only to be blown away with their October events. Third-party titles such as The Conduit have given us some hope for the future and we went through the announcement of the DSi. And that barely touches the surface!

CAMBRIDGE, MA – October 22, 2008 – Harmonix, the world’s premier music video game development company, and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) announced details today regarding 20 free DLC tracks that will be made available to Rock Band 2 [1] owners starting November 4, 2008. The lineup ranges across all genres of rock from up-and-coming artists that the industry has recognized as new to thriving rock bands with a quickly growing fan base.

“The Rock Band platform is an unparalleled destination for music discovery – offering a broad cross section of rock, from iconic rock artists to emerging bands,” stated Paul DeGooyer, MTV’s Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music. “With the addition of the 20 new songs we’re announcing today, owners of Rock Band 2 will have the ability to experience music from over 100 artists – ranging from the acts they already know and love to up-and-coming bands we think they will like.”

Featuring artists across the globe from the US, United Kingdom and Australia to Norway, Japan and Ireland, the 20 free DLC tracks are available exclusively to Rock Band 2 owners and can be accessed by using the DLC redemption code [2] located within the game’s retail packaging.
