Learn about the strong minded protagonists of Luminous Arc 2

September 24, 2008

Sixteen years ago a strange species of animal appeared in the Kingdom of Carnava. Beast Fiends, as they’re known, were monstrous creatures, attacking settlements and causing death and destruction in their wake. Master Mattias, leader of the Magic Association, a group that ensured the kingdom’s magic was never used for evil, took it upon himself to save the world from the threat of the Beast Fiends. The ensuing battle shook the ground for hundreds of miles around, and when the dust settled, the Beast Fiends had been stopped… but Mattias was dead.

Since Mattias’ death the Beast Fiends have slowly begun to reappear. Additionally, the rogue Shadow Frost Witch, Fatima, threatens to tip the balance of power in her favor by waging a private war against the Magic Association known as the Witch Conflict. When a young Knight named Roland is imbued with the power of magic through an accident at the kingdom’s Magic Technology labs, he is thrust into conflict with the Beast Fiends and the Witch Fatima as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

“Saving on SD cards is the way to go if you plan on downloading a lot of songs. The Wii system memory is then used as a ‘content cache.’ This means you only need to have the free space for one song in the Wii system memory (about 200 blocks). … The game automatically transfers the song… plays the song, and deletes it when you’re done. … It all happens pretty quickly.” – Karthik Bala, Vicarious Visions developer

Having to store 200 blocks for Guitar Hero songs is not going to be fun. I don’t know about you guys, but my “virtual refrigerator” is about ready to explode!

Mega Man 9 released on Monday, but without GameCube controller support. That means that your only alternatives are the classic controller and the Wiimote by itself. Although, that’s not a terrible thing, is it? Mega Man 9 is a retro title, so technically, if you choose to play NES-style with the Wii controller, it’ll almost feel as though you were in the later ’80s…Right?! Anyway, even if you’re bummed about the lack of GameCube controller support, buy the game!

IGN had the scoop about this earlier in the week, but here’s the official press release.

SAN FRANCISCO – September 23, 2008 – Today Ubisoft announced that Tenchu™ 4, the newest addition to the Tenchu™ franchise exclusively for the Wii™ system, will launch in North America and Europe in early 2009. The development team behind the original Tenchu, Acquire, brings a fresh new look, feel and motion to the Tenchu franchise.

Tenchu 4 will use the Wii Remote™ to fight, dash, jump and kill like a true ninja. Players will continue the saga of Rikimaru and Ayame, elite ninjas who must use their lethal skills to keep the peace in feudal Japan. Playing as both stealthy Rikimaru and aggressive and acrobatic Ayame, players will fight their way through more than 10 missions and 50 side quests and experience the thrilling adventure of being the ultimate ninja.

Tenchu 4 will come to a North American and European audience where it will be well-received by both fans of the series as well as Wii owners who have been looking for an edgy and exciting game. And if it’s katanas, throwing stars, daggers and smoke bombs you’re looking for, then, yeah, it’s got all those too.

Tenchu 4 has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

“Three points: In Japan, Zero sold well indicating that many people have never played the title and there is demand for it. This project is a reaction to the sale of Zero. Like Zero, think of this as a Greatest Hits re-introduction that just happens to be on a new platform. At the moment, like Zero, this is Japan only. That could change but that’s the current situation.” – Christian Svensson

The only reason why I would find it silly to not bring the game to other markets – or specifically, North America – is because the Resident Evil series has sold ridiculously well on Nintendo systems. The Resident Evil titles that have released on the GameCube and Wii have been extremely successful, especially considering they are third-party games.
