Closing out today’s news about Pokemon Sun/Moon is information about some new elements in the games. Hyper Training is being introduced to increase the strength of Pokemon at level 100, and the Pokemon Global Link is getting some new features. Read all about both below.
Hyper Training Maximizes a Pokémon’s Power
In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, you can draw forth a Pokémon’s power to its utmost limit with Hyper Training.
Pokémon grow stronger by raising their levels and increasing their base stats. However, their power is still affected by the individual strengths innate to each Pokémon. Now, with Hyper Training, Pokémon that have grown to Lv. 100 will be able to increase their individual strengths, which has never been possible before.
With Hyper Training, you can increase the strength of the Lv. 100 Pokémon you’ve been adventuring with!
Bottle Caps: The Key to Hyper Training
Hyper Training is done by Mr. Hyper—a man who loves to collect Bottle Caps. He can be found somewhere in the Alola region. If you bring him Bottle Caps, which you can obtain in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, you’ll be able to improve your Pokémon’s stats with Hyper Training.
Magearna Holds a Bottle Cap
The Magearna you’ll be able to get will be holding a Bottle Cap, a precious item needed for Hyper Training. With a Bottle Cap, you can perform Hyper Training on any Pokémon. Get Magearna on your team and try out Hyper Training for yourself!
More Fun at the Pokémon Global Link
With the release of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, the Pokémon Global Link—the website that connects Pokémon players around the world—will end its current Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y service and will be updated to work with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. New functions added in the update will let you enjoy Pokémon battles even more! For more information about the PGL update and the new features, check out the Pokémon Global Link (www.pokemon-gl.com).
Host Your Own Friendly Competitions
On the new PGL, you’ll be able to compete in official Online Competitions as in the past, but now there’s more! A new Friendly Competition feature has been constructed that will allow you to become a competition host yourself and host original competitions where you set the regulations. Friendly Competitions allow you to hold competitions in two different styles. Recruit your friends and enjoy climactic battles!
Online Competitions
In these Internet competitions, you’ll battle other participants you’ve been matched with and compete for the best rating. These competitions can be open to Pokémon Trainers all around the world, or they can be set to only allow pre-approved Trainers to enter. When the number of participants exceeds a certain number, Pokémon ranking will also be calculated, just as in official Online Competitions.
Live Competitions
Live Competitions allow you to host a competition where you gather together with friends and others in the same space. The Digital Player ID that contains the regulations will be created as a QR Code, and by scanning in that QR Code, participants will be able to battle according to the competition’s regulations.

An announcement was made a few hours ago teasing the reveal of some new Pokemon Sun/Moon information. The Pokemon Company has now followed through, and has released a new trailer for the two games. Watch it below for a look at the latest Pokemon.
Niantic has been steadily releasing Pokemon GO in various countries over the last couple of days – by now, the game is available in most European and North American countries. One major market where it’s still not available however is Japan. Niantic has previously stated that they’re targeting “the end of July” for the game’s Japanese launch since additional server capacities were needed to facilitate the Japanese player base.
However, it seems like Japanese players won’t have to wait much longer. According to TechCrunch, Pokemon GO will in fact launch in Japan tomorrow. Additionally, over 3,000 McDonald’s restaurants are supposedly going to serve as sponsored gyms. This info comes from unnamed sources, according to TechCrunch.
Obviously, take this news with a grain of salt. While it makes sense for Niantic and The Pokemon Company to want to strike while the iron is hot and capitalize on Pokemon GO’s popularity on Nintendo’s home turf (coincidentally, Japanese summer holidays for students also start tomorrow), it would be a remarkably quick turnaround. The game is still plagued by various server and connection issues in other countries, and the addition of the massive Japanese mobile market would only add to that. I guess we’ll know for sure tomorrow!
Yo-Kai Watch 3 has been out in Japan for a couple of days now. NintenDaan got himself a copy and recorded the first hour of gameplay. Check it out below:
Compared to previous games in the series, Nintendo has been releasing info about Pokemon Sun & Moon at an incredibly fast rate – and it doesn’t look like they’re stopping any time soon. New information will be revealed today at 10 PM JST / 3 PM CET / 9 AM EST / 6 AM PST. This new info will most likely come in the form of a video. We will keep you updated as soon as it releases.
Splatoon’s final Splatfest is fast approaching, and it asks the ultimate question – Callie or Marie? Nintendo just released two videos to celebrate the occasion: each one features a solo performance by one of the two Squid Sisters. Check them out below:

Pokémon Shuffle keeps up with its usual updates, including two new stages, Mega Manectric and Rhyperior.
As is typical with Mega stages, Mega Manectric is a competitive battle to get Manectite. The top 15,000 players in Europe, 22,000 in North America, and 60,000 in Japan will earn the Manectite, with rewards for other placements as follows:
-Raise Max Level: Top 1,200 (EU), 1,800 (NA), and 5,000 (JP)
-Mega Speedup: Top 3,800 (EU), 5,600 (NA), and 15,000 (JP)
-Disruption Delay: Top 20,000 (EU), 30,000 (NA), and 80,000 (JP)
-Attack Power: All players who don’t get the Manectite
The competition will run until July 26.
Besides this competition, there are several regular battles. The Rhyperior stage is brand new, and Palkia, Landorus, Bellossom, and Daily Pokémon #2 (which features Druddigon, Pachirisu, Sigilyph, Tropius, and Farfetch’d) are all returning. Rhyperior, Palkia, and the Daily Pokémon stage all run until August 2, while Landorus and Bellossom run until July 26.
Nintendo’s stock is still on the rise. The company’s share price is now at over 30,000 yen, which is the highest since April 2010. It goes without saying that the recent surge can be attributed to Pokemon GO.
Nintendo’s market cap has also doubled since the app’s debut. It’s at over $40 billion, which is apparently higher than Sony.
