Shadows Over Loathing

Original (4/19): Shadows Over Loathing, the latest game from West of Loathing developer Asymmetric, has been announced and released on Switch. The physical version will launch this fall.

Shadows Over Loathing is a horror-tinged, Prohibition-era comedy adventure/RPG that transports players to the shady side of an already black-and-white world. Further details can be found in the following overview:

West of Loathing

West of Loathing has been available on Switch for quite some time, but the game is just now receiving some new DLC on Nintendo’s console. Known as Reckonin’ at Gun Manor, a brand new adventure is included.

Here are the full details on the DLC:

West of Loathing

West of Loathing could have had a first-person gunfighting system. That’s according to developer Asymmetric, who shared that information in an interview with Nintendo.

Why was the first-person gunfighting idea ultimately scrapped? Asymmetric says the team “just couldn’t figure out how to make it funny enough.”

West of Loathing

West of Loathing is one of the latest games to have reached Switch after it initially released on PC. Thus far, things have been going well.

According to producer Kevin Simmons, the West of Loathing’s Switch version sold roughly a third as it did on Steam. Simmons added that the team is “thrilled” and feels that “those are great numbers for a goofy stick-figure cowboy comedy game.”

West of Loathing is currently available on Switch via the eShop.

As West of Loathing launches on Switch today, a new launch trailer for the game has arrived. We have the video below.

West of Loathing

West of Loathing was announced for Switch as a console exclusive during the last Nindies Showcase. Today, Asymmetric revealed that the game is arriving on May 31. It’ll be offered as a digital download on the eShop.

After it originally released on Steam last year, West of Loathing received a great deal of positive feedback. It features a hybrid of point-and-click adventure and open-world RPG gameplay.
