Capcom “starting to prepare” multiple Switch-version titles

Capcom reported its latest financial results earlier today. In its overall outline, the company noted that Ultra Street Fighter II – the company’s first Switch game – is a “smash hit” and “made an excellent start”. At least for the time being, Capcom appears to be pleased the performance of Ultra Street Fighter II. The game shipped 450,000 copies in Q1, which was above expectations.
Perhaps due to Ultra Street Fighter II’s sales, Capcom looks to be putting in more resources towards Switch. The publisher is now “starting to prepare” multiple Switch-version titles, as relayed by Takashi Mochizuki from The Wall Street Journal.
Capcom is next bringing Monster Hunter XX to Switch in Japan on August 25. It’s unclear what plans Capcom has beyond this.

Like many other companies, Capcom also recently released its latest financial results. In the earnings report for the first quarter of the fiscal year, Capcom also touched on Ultra Street Fighter II for the Switch – the report calls the game a “smash hit” and said that it “made an excellent start”. Concrete sales figures were not provided.
While these are rather vague statements, they are positive, so apparently the game has performed to Capcom’s satisfaction. Hopefully this means more support from them for the Switch.

Capcom has released a new 1.2 update for Monster Hunter Stories in Japan. With it, the game has received additional Otomon, more customization options, and more.

This week’s issue of Famitsu has a new article on The Great Ace Attorney 2. Brand new information is included in the information, as rounded up below:
– Coroners Courtney Sithe and Maria Goulloyne introduced
– Sithe is the head coroner of Scotland Yard
– This is a position that was only recently created
– Sithe works at the forefront of forensic science with her daughter Maria
– Ryuunosuke meets them when the case he’s investigating calls for more detailed investigation, including fingerprint work
– Sithe can seem blunt, but also makes it clear that she sees her job as her own way of fighting criminals
– New waxworks “kidnapping” case
– In a somewhat off-the-beaten-path corner of the World’s Fair, a waxworks museum has been erected
– It features the works of the Rozaic family
– One of the major figures from the museum’s House of Horrors, which collects London’s major criminals, has gone missing
– Holmes is intrigued by Rozaic referring to it as a “kidnapping”
– It’s not long after he gets there that another bout of Joint Reasoning crops up
– Later, at the trial, Rozaic testifies that the criminal was using the theft to demand a virtual fortune for the figure’s safe return

Finally, those with access to the Japanese 3DS eShop can download a demo for The Great Ace Attorney 2. It’s similar to the web demo, but with a bit of extra content. The main game can also be pre-loaded (6,446 blocks of space required).

Nintendo: “unable to comment” on Monster Hunter XX localization, other tidbits

The possibility of a localization of the Switch version of Monster Hunter XX has been quite a hot topic lately, starting with some comments made by Capcom around E3 and now the appearance of the Japanese version at Nintendo’s booth at Japan Expo in Paris. Alex “cvxfreak” Aniel was able to speak to a Nintendo representative at the booth, who told him that “We are unable to comment on localization.” So, no news on that front unfortunately, but the rep also said that “Capcom accepted our offer to show the game at Japan Expo.” It seems like Nintendo pushed to show the game at Japan Expo then, and not Capcom. There seems to be some interest from Nintendo at least to show the game to Western audiences, but again, a localization of the game doesn’t seem to be happening at the moment.
