The Max Raid Battle event has shifted in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Players will now be more likely to encounter Heat Rotom, Whimsicott, Excadrill, and other creatures commonly used in the competitive scene. The full set can be encountered in the Wild Area.
If you’re interested in participating, you’ll need to connect your Switch system online. You can then head on over to a pillar of light shining from a Pokemon Den to start up a Max Raid Battle.
Charizard, Garbodor, Copperajah, and Duraludon were featured in the last round of events. They were in the rotation for about a month.

Update: Following our initial post, more assets have come to light. You can find our follow-up here.
Original: Two years ago, the 1997 Space World demo for Pokemon Gold leaked online. It brought along a ton of interesting details and scrapped elements, including unused creature designs. There’s now been another leak for Gen 2 with another round of juicy discoveries.
It seems that today’s leak involves the full source code of the classic Pokemon games. Fans will undoubtedly be digging through it all in the days to come, but unsurprisingly, much of the talk thus far involves the Pokemon themselves. Beta and placeholder sprites are starting to spread online that show some pretty wild designs for Celebi, Pichu, and more.
Here’s a look at every sprite extracted:

Rumor: Pokemon Yellow source code leak references scrapped Pokemon Pink, audio files for anime cries
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
If the latest reports are to be believed, there may have been plans at one point to create a companion game for Pokemon Yellow. Source code for the series’ original games have appeared online, and in the header of Pokemon Yellow, there’s a reference to “Pocket Monsters Pink and Yellow”. The code also has other references to a potential Pink version as well.
The thought here is that Pokemon Pink, had it actually released, could have starred Clefairy or Jigglypuff. Of course, that’s just speculation.

Pokemon Sword/Shield exploit impacting competitive play
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Glitches and exploits seem to come hand in hand with Pokemon games. The latest entry, Pokemon Sword/Shield, was just recently impacted by one major issue in which hacked creatures could be sent through Surprise Trade. The situation resulted in crashes and could prevent online interactions. Fortunately, the games were eventually patched.
Another notable exploit seems to have popped up recently. Players have discovered that the results of an online match can be negated, and in a relatively simple manner. All that’s needed is to push the power button to disconnect the Switch at a specific time after losing a match. If it’s done the right way, the loser won’t lose points for the match and the winner won’t gain any points for their victory.
The bug has already circulated quite extensively on social media, including how it can be performed. Here’s a look at it in action:

Rumor: Some Nintendo assets distributed online through hack of internal dev servers
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
Update: Flipnote Studio for Switch as well as the new Pokemon music have been confirmed fake, so thankfully we can rest easy knowing that Nintendo’s servers have not been hacked.
Original: When you’re a big company like Nintendo, protecting against hacks is something you unfortunately have to deal with. In the Big N’s case, with announcements and other plans being set up weeks and months in advance, ensuring that information isn’t revealed before an unveiling can be crucial. Hacks (and especially leaks) do happen though, and it’s something we’ve seen impact Nintendo in recent years.
Another notable hack may have taken place over the past few days. Two releases may have been involved: a new Flipnote Studio for Switch and Pokemon Sword/Shield DLC.
