A new wave of NES Classic Edition units are starting to reach GameStop locations. Actually, some stores have stock on hand as early as today. While it’s highly unlikely to apply to every single GameStop, you may want to call or visit your local store to see if new stock is arriving.

In a couple of weeks, 8Bitdo will be bringing out the “NES30 Classic Edition Set”. Its purpose is simple, allowing NES Classic Edition owners to play wirelessly. The home screen can also be accessed by pressing down and select.

The set works with all 8Bitdo controllers and arcade sticks. It’s also apparently compatible with next-gen controllers – the Wii Remote and Wii U Pro Controller are listed, along with even the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Amazon has the NES30 Classic Edition Set for pre-order here. It’s due out on December 16.

Thes NES Classic Edition (or Nintendo Classic Mini) has sold out in many countries, including the UK. At least when it comes to the Nintendo UK store, it shouldn’t be much longer before additional stock arrives. More units should be available sometime in December. There’s no specific date yet, but we’ll certainly keep an eye out.

Adobe has reported some findings about Black Friday and Thanksgiving sales in the United States based on its online shopping data.

First and foremost, Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon were the top sellers across all video games. The NES Classic Edition and New 3DS XL Solgaleo Lunala Black Edition are said to be among “products most likely to run out-of-stock”.

Over in the UK, HookLogic says that Nintendo, Pokémon and NES Classic Edition were a few of most-searched toys between November 7 and November 21.

On the whole, people are pretty pleased with the NES Classic Edition – not withstanding stock issues. However, there is one complaint that’s been mentioned here and there. For some players, the controller’s cord is just too short.

Here’s an interesting thing about the controller: it packs in the same communication protocol as the Wiimote. Both use I2C, which has limitations with speed and length.

Had Nintendo gone with another communication protocol, it would have required new controllers just for the NES Classic Edition. On top of that, it wouldn’t have been compatible with the Wii U or Wii.

When a product becomes difficult to find – even for a short period – people turn to eBay. With the NES Classic Edition, the asking price naturally skyrocketed.

Polygon reports that NES Classic Edition sales on eBay last Friday took place once every 18 seconds. It’s tailed off just slightly since then, but sales are still happening once every minute and 23 seconds as of Tuesday. The average sale price has also been at $230 as opposed to Nintendo’s normal $60 asking price.

The Edge Joystick is one of two new peripherals Emio created for the NES Classic Edition. Unfortunately, reports are coming in that the accessory isn’t working with Nintendo’s device. It’s compatible with the Wii and Wii U, but in terms of the NES Classic Edition, buyers are out of luck. Best Buy is apparently recalling The Edge Joystick, asking consumers to return it.

Emio does at least seem to be aware of the situation, and is hoping to rectify things. The incompatibility is due to a missing adapter not included in the box. If you’re one of these people affected, Emio is advising consumers on Facebook to send an email to [email protected].

A new commercial for the Nintendo Classic Mini: Famicom has started airing in Japan. And in many ways, it takes inspiration from one of Nintendo’s older advertisement.

First, watch the Nintendo Classic Mini: Famicom below:

And now watch this advertisement for the original Famicom:

From the narration to the overall visual style, both commercials are pretty similar. Definitely looks like Nintendo is playing up the nostalgia factor here!

The Nintendo Power Line was brought back starting today and lasting through Sunday to celebrate the arrival of the NES Classic Edition. Back in the day, players could call in to receive game tips and other help from counselors.

Game Informer now has the full recording of what you’ll hear when you call the “new” Nintendo Power Line. Rather than speaking with a person, you’ll hear an automated recording that promotes the NES Classic Edition, but some tips are sprinkled in as well. Three gameplay counselors have tips for The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., and Metroid, who also share stories about their time working on the hotline.

Listen to the full recording below.
