Per usual, Nintendo has issued its response to the latest NPD report.

Wii U sales were their best ever in the U.S. for the month of December. Additionally, total hardware and software sales in 2014 rose by over 29 percent and over 75 percent respectively compared to the previous year.

Let’s not forget about the 3DS! The portable experienced its largest month ever for first-party software sales. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has already sold over two million combined physical and digital copies while Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have moved over 2.6 million physical and digital units.

On the amiibo front, figure sales “are nearly twice the sales of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.” That means close to 2.6 million amiibo have been sold in the U.S. thus far.

NeoGAF’s “creamsugar” has come through with a new set of sales data leaks from this month’s NPD report.

First, let’s talk about software. Sonic Boom is off to a rough start, as Rise of Lyric only moved 25,000 copies in its first month. Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on 3DS apparently sold even lower.

On a somewhat brighter note, Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth sold around 48,000 units last month. That’s not too bad considering the game launched during the very last week of November and was up against anticipated titles like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Finally, we have news about the limited edition New Super Mario Bros. 2 3DS XL. Consumers snatched up 140,000 of these handhelds in the U.S. last month.

Nintendo’s response to the November 2014 NPD report is in. Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and amiibo all experienced high sales.

On the portable side, 3DS software sales rose by over 40 percent compared to the same time last year. Wii U hardware and software sales increased by over 10 percent and 90 percent respectively over the same period last year. The week of November 23 was the biggest single week of Wii U hardware sales since the console’s launch in 2012.

Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire have sold almost 1.5 million combined physical and digital units in the U.S. thus far. Total Smash Bros. 3DS sales have surpassed 1.5 million copies while Smash Bros. Wii U sold nearly 710,000 units. Nintendo says amiibo sales “are approximately equal to sales of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U so far, while Link, Mario and Pikachu (in that order) have been the best-selling figures to date.”

Nintendo did not disclose any official numbers for Bayonetta 2 as part of the latest NPD results. However, an important piece of sales data appears to have leaked out.

NeoGAF member “Dartastic” claims that Bayonetta 2 sold 68,000 units in the U.S. during October. We’re generally wary of posting NPD leaks that don’t originate from creamsugar, who is considered to be a reliable source for sales figures. However, Dartastic’s post was apparently verified by a moderator of the NeoGAF community.

Bayonetta 2 launched on October 24. Since NPD’s reporting period ended on November 1, the game only saw about a week of sales.
