The big 2.0.0 update for Splatoon 2 went live a few days ago. Though most of the content is available, some of it is not. Specifically, a few maps will be rolled out slowly over the next few months.

Nintendo began distribution the new, major update for Splatoon 2 last night. Version 2.0.0 added a ton of content, including stages, gear, and so much more.

One unintended side effect of the update relates to the Great Zapfish. Strangely, after applying the patch, it is removed entirely. Nintendo did at least say on the Japanese Twitter page for Splatoon 2 that this will be addressed with a future update.

Players can see the Great Zapfish after finishing Splatoon 2’s Hero Mode. You can spot it flying in the Inkopolis Square, though it’s not entirely clear what prompts the appearance.

Japanese magazine Famitsu held a special Splatoon 2 contest in July. Fans were able to come up with designs they’d like to see in terms of both gear and graffiti. The winners were announced last month, and Nintendo has now confirmed that these entries will be added to the game with the latest update that should be live later today.

The gear design is a ghillie-suit outfit made by Puroron from Hyogo, Japan. As you’ll notice, the classic survival outfit is combined with a seaweed-style.

The winner of the graffiti design division was designed by Kazoo from Hokkaido, Japan. It will be showing up in Walleye Warehouse soon.

Nintendo posted a special treat on its Japanese YouTube channel today. We’re able to get a look at the recording process for some of the music in Splatoon 2. If you’re interested, check out the video below.

Splatoon 2 is getting a massive update this week. We’ve talked about the new stages, new gear, and other new content Nintendo will be adding. Aside from that, another addition was just outlined on the Japanese Splatoon Twitter account.

Following the update, new food will be offered at Crust Bucket. Players will be able to spend tickets on the latest meals, including one dish that provides 2.5x the experience for 20 battles.
