Star Fox Zero

Nintendo has put up its third Star Fox Zero commercial in two days. Take a look at a new “Showoff” advert below.

Nintendo’s gone ahead and uploaded its second Star Fox Zero commercial of the day. This one features Peppy in a bit of a comedic scenario. Check out the video below.

A third Star Fox Zero commercial has now been uploaded to Nintendo of America’s YouTube page. Falco is featured quite a bit in this one!

The folks over at Smosh have once again produced an “honest trailer” for a game. This time, the video focuses on Star Fox Zero. Check it out below.

Warning: there are small snippets of footage from the game that some may consider spoiler territory, including a look at the final boss.

Star Fox Zero came out in Japan last week. During its first few days on the market (April 21 – April 24), the game sold 17,114 units with the Star Fox Guard pack. Another 8,135 copies were sold from the standalone release.

Media Create now reports a sell-through rate for the two items. According to its data, they sold through just 30 percent of the initial shipment. Between the debut low sales and sell-through rate, it would be fair to say that Star Fox Zero is off to a slow start in Japan.

A second North American Star Fox Zero commercial has appeared on Nintendo’s YouTube page. Like the original, it once again features the Fox McCloud puppet. Here’s the video:

Geek Melee held an interesting interview with the English voice cast of Star Fox 64 – most of whom reprised their roles for Star Fox: Zero. Make sure to check out the full interview over on Geek Melee; below are a few highlights:

Bill Johns on voicing Falco:

“They showed me a still print of the Falco character and said ‘think Han Solo.’  I guess whatever came out was what they wanted.

There wasn’t a tremendous amount of copy in those early games.  I’m pretty sure everything Falco said fit on a page and a half of script, in large font and double spaced”

Jock Blaney on not returning as Wolf for the 3DS remake of Star Fox 64:

“I was a little disappointed at not returning. It may have been because I moved from Seattle some years back and was now working out of Las Vegas and they wanted their talent to be local Seattle.  It would have been fun!”

Mike West on the response to his performance as Fox in Smash Bros. 4:

“I try not to read social media crap but I saw some pretty harsh comments about my performance as well as a couple of other voice actors.”

A few days ago, the Nintendo Treehouse hosted a lengthy gameplay session for both Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard. Take a look at the video below for a full recording of the event.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Star Fox Zero has only been out for about a day, though fans are already finding out what the game has to offer in terms of unlockables. One big takeaway involves confirmation of being able to nab the Retro and Black Arwings without amiibo.

There isn’t anything overly spoilerish in terms of story, but just to be safe, head past the break for more information about unlockables (plus a video!).

Nintendo has shown off Star Fox Zero’s various vehicles in trailers and whatnot, but there’s one that not too many people know about. This is another element that falls into spoiler territory, so continue on below for a look at it in action.
