One of the many things Splatoon 2 is changing up compared to the original are the Special and Sub weapons – the Specials are entirely new, and some of the firearms have had their Sub weapons changed around. Today, the official Splatoon Twitter account revealed the Special and Sub weapons of the weapons that will be available to players during the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire this weekend. They are as follows:

  • Splattershot: Burst Bomb (sub) + Tenta Missiles (special)
  • Splat Charger: Splat Bomb (sub) + Sting Ray (special)
  • Splat Roller: Suction Bomb (sub) + Splashdown (special)
  • Splat Dualies: Curling Bomb (sub) + Inkjet (special)

The Splatoon 2 Global Testfire is just around the corner, and Nintendo has released brief preview videos of the four weapons that will be available to players: the Splattershot, Splat Charger, Splat Roller and the all-new Splat Dualies. The Splat Dualies preview video is below; head past the break for the other three.

European Switch users have gotten a news item about amiibo, which, as Nintendaan points out, notes that amiibo will be compatible with Splatoon 2. The tweet is below:

Since amiibo were compatible with the original Splatoon, it seemed reasonable for them to return in the sequel, though we don’t know how they’ll be used. Splatoon fans will probably want to keep their Inklings on hand.

To prepare Switch owners for the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire, a news notice has been sent out that fully explains the game’s controls. You can see the overview above.
