Been a while since I’ve done a WDYT article, eh? Well, they’re back and better than ever. Why? Because they’re in video form! This week I talk about people talking about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, as well as giving my own thoughts on the game itself. Enjoy!

Update: Game Night is now over!

Hey guys! Most of you know the drill by now, so just hop in the IRC and play some ‘The Conduit’ with all of us on the site. If you just want to stop by and chat, that’s cool too. We’d love to see you there!

The second episode of our podcast features a few new voices and a few missing ones, lots of game talk, some more (possibly slightly less than genuine) listener mail, and a good bit of laughs in between. We’re still working on catching our stride, so bear with us as things can get a little hectic from now until then!

Update: Game Night is now over!

No, seriously. Have you ever not had fun playing Mario Kart?

Hey guys! Time for another game night, so hop on into the IRC (it’s free, no sign up required!) and play some Mario Kart with us! Of course, you’re free to play any other game with people in the IRC, but for the most part I expect people to be sticking to some hardcore karting! Hope to see you all there!

Excited for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2? Well, if you pre-order at Gamestop there’s even more to be excited about, because you get a really awesome custom skin and lightsaber crystal that turns your character into a really sweet, badass looking Jedi Knight. Check out the official excerpt:

Maulkiller Skin – In the cloning facilities of Kamino, Darth Vader created a warrior of unparalleled strength and power by combining the genetic material of Darth Maul, former apprentice of Sith Lord Darth Sidious, with his own apprentice, Starkiller. The resulting aberrant clone possessed traits from both warriors, but the crude fusion of two disparate Force users quickly produced physical and mental instabilities that led to the unfortunate clone’s destruction. For a brief time he struck fear into the hearts of all who faced him, even Lord Vader himself.
Maulkiller Silver Saber Crystal – The perfect companion to the Maulkiller costume, the silver crystals make his dual lightsabers look like an extension of the silver Zabrac styled tattoos that cover his body and face. This powerful crystal allows the player to consume less Force Energy when using Force Powers so that he can devastate his enemies.

“Star Wars fans have been forgiving over the years, but we don’t take that for granted. We are so paranoid about tarnishing Star Wars. We want to make every game as good as possible, but it doesn’t always work out that way. The Force Unleashed II is a better game. Whether it reviews or sells as well, I have no idea.” – Haden Blackman, LucasArts Exec

I really enjoyed the first TFU game, so if the second one is even as good as the first, I’m all over it!

The following quote comes from an interview between Eiji Aonuma and the Official Nintendo Magazine:

“Yes, there is a master timeline, but it’s confidential document! The only people to have access to that document are myself, Mr. Miyamoto and the director of the title. We can’t share it with anyone else! I have already talked to Mr. Miyamoto about this so I am comfortable in releasing this information – this title [Skyward Sword] takes place before Ocarina of Time. If I said that a certain title was ‘the first Zelda game’, then that means that we can’t ever make a title that takes place before that! So for us to add titles to the series, we have to have a way of putting the titles before or after each other.” – Eiji Aonuma

Finally, we know the truth about all of this nonsense! Granted we’ll probably never know for sure exactly which games go where, but at least having the knowledge that we’re not all crazy is wonderful news!

As if it wasn’t already easy enough to guess, NintendoEverything.com and GamingEverything.com have started up a joint podcast, headed by yours truly! To jump right into it, the first episode was recorded today with staff members from both NE and GE, as well as some people you’ve never heard of, so give it a listen as I explain exactly what this all means with a helpful FAQ. Thanks a bunch for support, you guys, and I really truly hope you find the podcast enjoyable! If not, definitely let me know what we can do to make it better for you to hear!

FAQ

You said this was a GamingEverything and NintendoEverything joint podcast. Does this mean you’ll talk about one system more than any other?

Nope! It is technically a multiplatform podcast, but it’s really casual in terms of which systems get expressed in which ways. Don’t expect any flaming going on in here!

Should I bother listening to this if I only visit NintendoEverything.com?

Yes, absolutely! Not only do we cover a lot of important Nintendo news, most Nintendo-centric podcasts have a lot of talk of the other systems, so it should be completely bearable if not enjoyable to you.

Is this podcast on iTunes? Can I subscribe to it?

The answer is both yes and no. It is not on iTunes yet but it will be by this time next week. I’ll let you all know when it is and how you can subscribe to it as soon as it is! For now, just download the raw MP3 or listen to it in your browser!

Who all in on the podcast?

The podcast team this particular episode consists of 5 people:

Austin: That would be me. The GamingEverything and NintendoEverything feature-writer who pops in and out at random times.

Jack: Jack is a writer for GamingEverything who is also an avid Nintendo fan.

Mitch: Mitch is another GamingEverything writer, who is a pretty well rounded gamer, but has a soft spot in his heart for Sony.

Nick: Nick is simply a friend who enjoys playing games and talking about them. He is a staff member on neither site.

Laura: Laura, our sole female, is a gamer who also does not write for either site, but contributes to the podcast with her love of gaming.
