Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2023 is kicking off soon, and we’ve got a live stream ready to go for the event. It’ll be starting up at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM in the UK / 8 PM in Europe. Note that a pre-show will air 30 minutes beforehand.
Don’t expect a ton of new announcements here, but we should be hearing about at least a couple of Switch games. Sonic Superstars and Mortal Kombat 11 have both been confirmed for the show. We’ll relay any important news as it happens.

1995 game Gourmet Warriors making a return on Switch

QUByte has released a number of classic games on Switch, and that continues with Gourmet Warriors. Originally launched in 1995, it’ll now be hitting Nintendo’s current console on August 31, 2023.
Gourmet Warriors initially debuted as Gourmet Sentai Barayarou for the Super Famicom. In 2019, it finally received a proper western release in English for the SNES.
My Time at Sandrock delayed to November

My Time at Sandrock has been delayed and it will not be available next month as previously announced.
On social media, Pathea Games explained that the move was made “to better ensure the game quality will meet your standards and expectations.” The title will now launch on November 2, 2023.

Publisher GameMill and developer Bamtang Games have nailed down a release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance. The title is slated for September 22, 2023 on Switch. The first proper footage has been shared as well.

Original (8/21): The latest UK software sales chart for the week ending August 19, 2023 has been released, and it’s an old favorite that returns to the top.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the new #1. The Switch game pushed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, last week’s top seller, to #24 due to a price promotion. It Takes Two appears at #26 with a 351 increase and Little Nightmares II is back at #31 with a 196 percent bump.

Poltchageist revealed for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have just unveiled a new Pokemon, with Poltchageist being added to the games. It’s both a Grass and Ghost type.
Poltchageist will be introduced in the first DLC wave for the titles, The Teal Mask. News about the Pokemon was shared in a video just published by The Pokemon Company. Other information is likely to follow soon as often we’ll see an initial reveal followed by a more formal announcement with an in-game trailer (update: see overview below).

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 frame rate and resolution detailed

Konami has provided details on what to expect from the frame rate and resolution of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 across all platforms, including Switch.
For Nintendo’s console, the package will run at 30 frames per second. Resolution in docked mode comes in at 1080p. For handheld mode, it’ll be native 720p.
New Xenoblade would “likely be something vastly different,” says series’ director

According to Xenoblade Chronicles director Tetsuya Takahashi, assuming we see another entry in the series, it “will likely be something vastly different from what came before.”
A message from Takahashi was included in the recently-released Xenoblade Chronicles 3 soundtrack release. Xenomira has since provided a translation.
