David Cox says changes were needed for Castlevania to keep the franchise going

Castlevania experienced a major change in 2010. Konami gave the series’ reigns to MercurySteam, who went on to make the 3D action game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – and later, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate.
The game was quite the departure from other Castlevanias. Before its arrival, a trio of major 2D titles were made for the DS and Konami created each release in-house.
According to producer Dave Cox, the change was necessary. Cox told EDGE this month that the franchise “wasn’t going anywhere, sales were dwindling and it was appealing to only a very small hardcore base of fans.” Cox feels that Lords of Shadow allowed the series to survive. Without change, “it’s just going to be like Mega Man.”
“We needed to make a change, so we did. The Castlevania series wasn’t going anywhere, sales were dwindling and it was appealing to only a very small hardcore base of fans. That’s how franchises die. The success of Lords of Shadow proved to everyone that there’s life in the series yet and that people could accept us going in a new direction, and we can do that again. We have to take these risks if Castlevania is to survive, otherwise it’s just going to be like Mega Man.”

Amazon’s New Super Luigi 3DS listing changed to NSMBU DLC
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
I’m calling it: Amazon has lost its mind.
After originally listing “New Super Luigi” for the 3DS, Amazon updated its product page with screenshots from the New Super Luigi U DLC in New Super Mario Bros. U. It has been updated once more, and while it now properly lists the product for Wii U
, the page now contains a $60 price tag.
There’s absolutely no way that content will be set at $60. And I’m still wondering why there’s even a listing for the New Super Luigi DLC given how Wii U DLC hasn’t typically been sold through Amazon.
Ah well… probably nothing to stress about.

A new Monster Hunter 4 area is introduced in the latest issue of Famitsu: the icy waters/frozen sea. You can expect the Urukususu to appear in this area as well as some kind of new monster that roughly translates to “Sukuagiru” (someone else may have a better name later).
We’re waiting for further details and clarification from Famitsu leaks, so sit tight for more information about this new ice area.

Nintendo plans to ship the Metallic Red Japanese 3DS system in Japan this month. To be clear, this is the older 3DS system, not the 3DS XL model.
The Metallic Red 3DS system will be available on June 13. Pricing is set at 15,000 yen.
