Nintendo Power is officially done with. The last issue has been completed and should be with subscribers and on newsstands sometime next month.

Editor Phil Theobald says the next magazine contains “some pretty outstanding stuff” and the staff believes “it’s a suitable end for the magazine’s 24 year run”.

“Just for the record, today was the final day of Nintendo Power. We finished up the final issue and shipped it off. The final issue (#285, December 2012) should be hitting newsstands on December 11, so please look forward to it (subscribers will likely get it earlier). There is some pretty outstanding stuff in the issue that we’re very proud of. We think that it’s a suitable end for the magazine’s 24 year run. Man, I can’t wait for people to see it.”

Thanks to ThomasN for the tip.

Retro City Rampage’s release on Wii (through WiiWare) is still in the pipeline. When it finally does launch, players will be able to take advantage of a few control schemes.

The 2D open-world title will offer support for the Wiimote, GameCube controller, and Classic controller. Developer VBlank Entertainment suggests using the latter option over the first two, however.

When Chasing Aurora releases on Sunday, it won’t come with online leaderboards. But Broken Rules, the game’s developer, says that it is already working on online scores. If Chasing Aurora proves successful, the studio will be open to adding in the feature through an update.

“We’ve started implementing online scores and if the game is any success we’ll add it in an update.

Chasing Aurora also don’t feature online play. Explaining the decision behind this, Broken Rules said:

“Online multiplayer for a fast-paced action game requires either an existing engine (which usually is not available? at the launch of a console because things take time) or a much larger team than we have. The problem is not so much the networking code itself, but integrating match-making, writing stable server code, cheat-prevention. So we focussed on making a game to play together in one room.”

Japan’s Club Nintendo platinum rewards were announced today. The downloadable game Nintendouji, a set of Mario playing cards, a Pikmin tote bag, and Club Nintendo 2013 calendar are among the prizes.

Nintendouji is probably the most-interesting of the bunch. It’s a turn-based card title for DSiWare with dungeon-crawler and RPG aspects. Nintendouji’s name, which is a pun, means “Nintendo Boy”.

Nintendouji will be available for those who choose the prize in March 2013.
