There’s something to be said for article titles that trick people into clicking the link in order to get hits, but whatever that something is, I’m not going to say it in this article because this article is about Zelda and not about the evil and devilish ways the blogging industry makes itself successful. Ah yea, Zelda. A series that last year held its 25th anniversary bash, and as the celebrations continue into 2012 with the touring Zelda symphony, a lot of people are taking advantage of this popularity to write articles that make people upset. The latest in this string of upsetting editorials comes from Kotaku’s Tevis Thompson, who yesterday put out a gem titled “Zelda Just Keeps Getting Worse, But It’s Not Beyond Saving.”

Now, I was linked this article by a friend of mine (who happens to share most of Mr. Thompson’s views on the series), and very very quickly knew I wasn’t particularly interested in finishing a read-through. Somewhere between saying “The original Legend of Zelda is the greatest Zelda” and “Zelda would be better if it had no story”, it was simply clear that this particular article was not meant for my eyes. I mean not to dissuade you from reading it- by all means, here is the link– but frankly… the arguments made within were both incredibly merited and deeply flawed, jumping back and forth quickly enough to give one whiplash. However, that doesn’t mean I didn’t take something from reading it. I took an obnoxious reminder as to what I imagine is the main difficulty with developing Zelda games must be from reading it: the fans.

We’re continuing our look at the Hyrule Historia book with art pieces from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It’s a shame that only six pages were included in the publication given the game’s influence on the series. Still, it’s better than nothing!

I know a new Call of Duty is coming. You know a new Call of Duty is coming. Activision does, too, but they’re not willing to specifically say what they’re working on just yet.

However, it’s looking more and more likely that the company’s Call of Duty title for 2012 will be Black Ops 2.

Amazon France added an entry for Black Ops 2 recently, but after it caught some attention, the retailer took it down. Seems pretty fishy, don’t you think?

Additionally, Joystiq discovered a listing for the title on the LinkedIn profile of Nerve Software employee Hugo Beyer earlier today. As you would expect, the page has since been removed.

Also remember that Activision registered the blackops2.com domain earlier this year.

So, Black Ops 2 it is then. Right?

It’s been a long time since Hironobu Sakaguchi worked on Final Fantasy. Still, even today, he’s always asked about the series.

That’s understandable given how much of an impact he’s had on the IP, but at this point, he’s “really tired of talking about it.”

Sakaguchi said the following when asked if he’s sick of being asked questions about Final Fantasy:

“I’ve had six interviews today and I’ve never had so many questions about Final Fantasy. So yes, I’m really tired of talking about it.”

It looks like Activision has rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license. This means they’re in a position to make games based on the IP.

The photo above, taken at Toy Fair 2012, implies that we might be seeing a TMNT title from Activision in the future. Activision would be partnering up with Nickelodeon – the main license holder – to make this happen.

Nintendo Week gets a guest co-host for one week…

On this week’s episode: Rhythm Heaven Fever, Mutant Mudds, Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Tekken 3D: Prime Edition.

EA will be having a huge presence at GDC this year. The company will be live-streaming a “Game Changers” event at the show, which will be filled with announcements and trailers.

EA’s conference will be taking place on March 6, the second day of GDC.

At this time, it isn’t known if the company will have anything Nintendo-related to show. But surely they’ll have something for the Wii or 3DS… right? At the very least, they should mention Madden.

EA already has a countdown running here. Visit that page on March 6 at 8 PM PST (11 PM EST) for the live-stream.

Aksys Games and Nintendo Power must have a pretty decent relationship. The magazine was given the scoop on Shifting World in its January/February issue, and it appears that another reveal from the company is on the way.

Aksys included the following blurb in a blog post last week:

“Bonus: You might want to pick up the next Nintendo Power, on stands on 2/28, for a very special announcement.”

There’s a good chance that we’ll hear about this mysterious game earlier than the 28th. Subscribers usually get their copies a bit earlier than the newsstand date.

Thanks to Jake for the tip!
